Question PepperJam applies for our program
Are U ready for this one, PJ applied for our program in the Pfx network.

Should I approve Kris, just when I thought he didn't like me.

Or is he spying for his pet merchants.

    What do you think?

Can they make money for you? Do you trust them? Can you balance those two answers to come up with an approval or disapproval?

It shows Pepperjam is not phasing out their affiliate activities. What we heard was just an other bs story. I'm sure with all their hats they can learn a few things to compete with us.

So if you accept them as an affiliate, do you then appear as a merchant on PJN? I heard they signed up 175 merchants in Q1.

Question... is there a suggestion here that there could be a conflict of interest?
    Given their background?

Just to get an opinion, is it usual in the US to contact some one for the first time, from a company using a gmail account instead of @pepperjam.com

Pepperjam has been known to compete with PPC affiliates in CJ programs that they manage(d?) - And I'm not referring to running the company's search campaign, but running additional campaigns with their own landing pages.

Is PJ still running programs in CJ? I never saw a resolution posted by Kris after his initial blog post about CJ's move, so I can't assume there was a favorable resolution.

one of their merchants sent an email to affiliates last week that they are leaving CJ this month. It was the only one I was with, so don't know about the rest.

    I won't be following.

Ok well that's a conflict of interest then.. back in the day.

Im assuming that they don't do this now. There are pros and cons... I rather lean towards aff networks to not to compete with affiliates as the playing field becomes a little uneven (impo)

Im just trying to work them out without speaking to their sales rep.

I saw a banner with a high profile aff name endorsing them so I figure he would not endorse them if they were less then aff non compete.
Just trying to do my due diligence.

So contacting some one using a gmail account is every day here in the US?
Example if I were to contact you jess@gmail rather then Jess@mycompanyname.com would be ok?

They're still listed as managing BedBathStore.com, which has affiliate banners running sitewide on their pages. Picking a page at random, there are 8 LS banners on the left under the navigation

    http://www.bedbathstore.com/bath.html

Also Apple Bottoms, Phat Farm, Anthony Robbins, Just Sweet, about 16 altogether if you do a search on their management name.

I don't work with them and didn't know PepperJam was the OPM but I'm not going to link to them anytime soon.
BedBathStore.com is a leak Champion. Look at all these affiliate links:
1800Flowers, FragranceNet, Great Skin, bare necessities, Champion...
An OPM should educate the merchant and not accept a merchant not affiliate friendly.
How much more leaks do they have?

BedBathStore.com is a merchant competing with their own affiliates. You don't want to work with a merchant who is not going to pay you for your for your traffic.
Pepperjam is an OPM (Affiliate Managers) A good one will ask such merchant to put down their conflicting links.

The bread and butter of Pepperjam is running affiliate programs across any network that will let them in and bidding on trademarks. Its how they made their money. They do it even to there own clients. So unless you want them bidding on your trademark and not getting you any sales you would not have already got, then I would not let them in.

That is certainly how they made their money, I just didn't want to be the first to say it here.
