Exclamation What is wrong with CSN Stores datafeeds?
Just noticed that our websites which use datafeeds of CSN Stores (like for their substore Everycoffeemaker) contain a lot of duplicate products.

I checked CSN's datafeed for everycoffeemaker to check if it wasn't a problem on our end. There are indeed 2 records in their datafeed for a lot of products - one and the same product with just 2 different product ids!?

Anybody experiencing the same problems with duplicate products in other CSN Stores datafeeds or at least knows what is going on and if this is temporary?

We sent a message through Shareasale but no reply so far.

    Thanks, Stefan

Are they exactly identical or could it be different color items? I've seen cases were some merchants use one picture for all colors, but list each color multiple times in the datafeed, once for each color.

    Hi Ron,

Most of the times CSN mentions colors in product title but in this case these are exactly the same product titles including color. Example below.

    Code:
    459336954
    Code:
    |D290 Automatic Espresso Machine in Red|11035|CSN Stores|http://www.shareasale.com/m-pr.cfm?merchantID=11035&userID=YOURUSERID&productID=459336954|http://common.csnstores.com/common/products/NES/NES1006_s.jpg|http://common.csnstores.com/common/products/NES/NES1006_l.jpg|499.00|623.75|Home/Family|Kitchen

    459436959|D290 Automatic Espresso Machine in Red|11035|CSN Stores|http://www.shareasale.com/m-pr.cfm?merchantID=11035&userID=YOURUSERID&productID=459436959|http://common.csnstores.com/common/products/NES/NES1006_s.jpg|http://common.csnstores.com/common/products/NES/NES1006_l.jpg|499.00|623.75|Home/Family|Kitchen|
Both are going to the same page ...

    http://www.everycoffeemaker.com/asp/...=SS142-NES1006

For so far I can see this is one and the same product. This is really frustrating as it isn't very professional looking on our pages with 2 records for a lot of products and it may confuse visitors.

I had this problem too, I noticed it a few weeks ago and contacted Brent. He explained that this happens because those items are for different CSN stores. Many are three of a kind. He also explained that when a datafeed error is corrected on their end it gets assigned a new product ID by SAS. A few weeks ago there was a datafeed issue with several blank lines and when the corrected version was uploaded many products got assigned a new product ID.

Thanks 2Busy. Do you know CSN MAIN affiliate datafeed contains all those duplicates also or is it only in their sub datafeeds? It's really not workable with continously having other productids and duplicates in the feeds for the same products.

I could find the example above "Automatic Espresso Machine in Red" only once in their MAIN datafeed. If so we could use eventually that huge datafeed but for practical reasons it would be better to work with the smaller datafeeds.

Brent, if you reading this your feedback would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Stefan

I really don't know as I only use the feeds via PopShops, and that was the context of my question to Brent. I am not positive but I believe that PopShops is using subfeeds only, not the main feed because I've had a few issues of creating shops and having all the products disappear; 1,268 products one day and then zero. Brent has told me that the feed that is available from SAS does not have these issues so it must be the main feed that is OK and the sub feeds that have duplicate content. Brent is usually unavailble for weekends, but he has popped in once in a while, I'll send him a link to this thread in case he checks his email. That's always the best way to get quick answers I've found.

Well that's exactly what happened at our end too. All products suddenly gone for EveryCoffeeMaker and CSNChairs & CSNMassageChairs just because of the different product ids.

When importing the new feeds again we experience now the duplicate products problem. Even if main feed does not contain duplicate records, products will dissappear again next time CSN changes ids.

I really hope that people behind CSN Stores realize that changing product ids hugely affect a lot of affiliates' websites. I realize that they have a very huge number of products to manage but changing product ids or sticking duplicate records in feeds is really not a good solution for a great number of affiliates relying on those feeds for their websites.

    Thanks, Stefan

    Hello,

Thanks for the questions Stev. I received your message this morning, and was looking into your inquiries.

I could not find this product ID(459336954) in the Every Coffeemaker data feed, or in any of our feeds. Where did you pull this information from? The second product ID(459436959) is showing up in the feed for me. There is the same product in chrome, which has a different Product ID, but I am not seeing duplicates of this product.

    Code:
    459336954|D290 Automatic Espresso Machine in Red|11035|CSN Stores|http://www.shareasale.com/m-pr.cfm?m...ctID=459336954
    |http://common.csnstores.com/common/products/NES/NES1006_s.jpg|http://common.csnstores.com/common/p.../NES1006_l.jpg
    |499.00|623.75|Home/Family|Kitchen

459436959|D290 Automatic Espresso Machine in Red|11035|CSN Stores

Concerning the Product ID change. Our feed system had a bug a few weeks ago, wiping out a few of the feeds in SAS. When I regenerated the feeds on our end and sent them to the SAS server, SAS attributed new product IDs to all of those products. So, the only reason there was a change in product IDs was because of this error. It isnt something that should happen again. I will talk to SAS about attributing the same Product Ids to the same SKU that was in the system before. This will ensure, if there is an error on our end again, that the sku's we send over will have the same product ID.

Please let me know if this has helped. I'm looking forward to fixing this so that it isnt a future issue.

    Thanks,

    Brent

Is attributing the sku value from our feeds, with their own unchangeable SAS product ID, a possibility?

    Hi Brent,

Thanks for taking the time for replying on this thread!

The duplicate products I included earlier in this thread I found from the everycoffeemaker datafeed I downloaded just before writing that post (last Saturday). It seems now that one of those product ids is gone in the datafeed (probably due to an update?).

If testing the affiliate links with each product id (459336954 & 459436959)
both go the same product page D290 Automatic Espresso Machine in Red. I'm sure they were both in the datafeed last weekend.

If you can arrange with SAS that your product ids remain the same after every update that would be a great help! Can you confirm this when you receive a reply from SAS?

    Thanks, Stefan
