Now Adsense is showing a blank space instead of charity ads if it can find any relevant ad for a page. This thing looks terribly odd. They also added "related search" link and we will not be paid if someone clicks there.

Is that showing up on live sites? I haven't seen it on any of mine unless I look at the page on my computer before I upload it...

Yep, just saw it on mine, why the heck would they add that, wouldn't they rather someone click on a paid ad?
I will note that it's not been on the skyscraper, must not be enough room.

I saw the blank ad and thought it was a unique incentive to making me click on it, but I didn't bother clicking. Guess I wasnt intrigued enough

I prefer the Public Service ads. I don't see the blank space too often on my sites yet but when I do, I get more angry each time. I emailed Google about this but haven't received a reply.

The "blank space" is a sophmoric joke. It makes the publisher appear ridiculous. It cheapens the site by focusing the visitors' attention on some idiots misguided little joke.

Is this possibly just a slap in the face to those who complained about the "charity" ads?

I doubt it. I remember seeing in the terms when I signed up that they may show "placeholders" instead of charity ads. This (a blank ad) is what I thought they meant...

I haven't seen it on my sites, but then I don't usually look at the sites AS is on much anyway. But I hope they don't do it much!

With the drop in "related searches" on AdSense ads today, this has also been dropped I believe. Back to PTA ads instead of these strange messages.
