It's the caloric equivalent of eating 14 Krispy Kreme doughnuts, before your dinner arrives. Even if you split this "starter" with 3 friends, you'll have downed a meal's worth of calories.

[LOL! We both had the same idea. You were just a little faster! I've merged my thread in.]
I just ran across this cool article on Men's Health web site:
The 20 Worst Foods in America
It details some of the "worst" choices when eating out: 2710 and 2900 calorie appetizers! A 2310 calorie "personal" pizza! A 1520 calorie burger and a 1510 calorie sub! And much more.
Although I'll probably use this as a check-list of things that I have to try, many of you more health-conscience people will appreciate it as a warning list. They also suggest alternatives and specific recommendations for many restaurants (scroll down the page) and the best choices for specific needs.

There no food in Australia called Cheese Fries. If there was vegemite fries I would be tempted to accept that as the worst food in America!Jamie

I think the title of this thread should be retitled "Worst Food FOR You in America" because I'm sure that probably doesn't refer to the taste.
Mmmmmmmm... cheeeeese fries.-Don't criticize anyone til you've walked a mile in their shoes. Then when you do criticize them, you'll be a mile away and have their shoes.

A 3,000 calorie appetizer is a little extreme (okay, a lot extreme), yes... but remember, you don't have to eat the whole thing Moderation, moderation...Daniel M. Clark

Nah, the worst food in America would have to be the meatloaf my sister in law's 84 year old mother makes! LOL (I hope she's not a new member here!)
Hmmm, she's 84, so maybe she's on to something. Maybe a future medical report will show that meatloaf served in a deep pan with an inch of fatty oils saturating it is the secret to long life?

If you look through that entire list... in a very quiet room... you'll hear your arteries crackle.

That article about the 20 worst foods was really great - and shocking!

This is no fair - I LOVE the awesome blossom! I think if you're going to order these items chances are you know you're splurging. I think its ok to splurge once in a while on a really decadent, yummy meal if you know you'll "be good" the rest of the week/day etc.
At least that's what i tell myself when we order Awesome Blossom for the table!

Has anyone had the new "Indiana Jones" version of the Snickers bar? It's got coconut in it...now take that, dip it in batter and deep fry it. Bet that beats the awesome blossom.

In an effort to balance this thread out a little, I am posting something I made for lunch yesterday. I have to admit, the stuff here sure does sound good though. Here it is---simple but effective:
Very Low Fat Maple Chipotle Turkey Sandwich by sfcom
a few slices of Fat-free turkey breast
freshly sliced tomato
Stonewall Kitchen Maple Chipotle sauce
Yum. My bro in law got us a few of these sauces for on the grill. I didn't know they went so well on cold sandwiches until yesterday.

Sfcom-that sandwich would be even better batter-dipped and deep-fried.
We doan need no stinkin' balance....this thread is all about being BAD!!!

If a dieter comes in THIS thread, then gosh darnit, they are just looking for a reason to cheat! It's just like a diabetic wandering into a fudge shop!
And here's a question: Why so many fudge shops at the beach? Fudge and sand don't seem to mix, nor do the calories in slabs of fudge=a good look in a bathing suit!

I would have called it the "Worse foods for you", not the "Worse Foods". Even with those numbers, it sounded great and made me hungry.
Edit: I see someone above made the same comment. This thread title is false advertising. I was hoping to read about a bunch of terrible tasting foods to help me stick to my diet only to read about the best tasting, but worse foods for your diet.
I may have to report this thread. ha.
BTW. I had dinner with you Michael at CJU.
