    Your Favorite Wordpress Plugins Thread
Figured I'd start one of these too. Which are your favorite ones, cool ones, best ones, ones you use on every blog etc. and where to you get them.

I use Firestats on my blogs. For when I don't want to look too deep into analytics, and just see what keywords are popping that day, and from where.

I use Firestats also when I dont want Goog Analytics on a site for some reason or dont want to setup an account for that site.

I also use All in one SEO Pack.

    I like Diggthis and socialable.

Thats about it except for turning on Akismet

Don't forget that PopShops has an excellent WP plugin and is releasing an even more versatile one for the new WP upgrade.

Okay, good thread. Here are a couple of the absolutely most useful plugins. I believe they still work with WP 2.5:

    WordPress automatic upgrade
    WordPress Database Backup

Get those two up and running and you're covered for most server crashes.

Another that I find very useful allows you to assign categories in your WP blog to pages as well as to posts. It's here:
    WordPress Page Link Manager

I use all three on just about every blog I have.

    Akismet, of course.

I am somewhat partial to TTFTitles as well. Ahem.

Angel, will you please remember to post a link (to the thread in your forum, I suppose) in this thread, when the one for the new WP upgrade is ready and posted about?

That way it's easier to keep track of useful plugins, if they're all documented here.

    Thanks!

Oh, forgot to ask. I might need to put up a photo gallery on a site at some time, or maybe even a page of thumbnail photos linked to individual detail pages. Is there a really good (and easy) gallery plugin anyone can recommend?

    Check out NextGen Gallery.

It's nice if you use "website" sized pictures. If you use big ones, it can hang.

The 3 plug-ins that I like the most are:

    google-sitemap-generator: automatically generates sitemaps

wp-dbmanager: you can manage your WP DB, schedule backups and have your DB sent to you. Thanks to LostDeviant for telling me about this one.

different-posts-per-page: you can show a different number of posts in home, category, search or archive pages.

I also just started using post-star-rating on one of my blogs. It allows visitors to rate a post with one to five stars.

Wow. Just found another really great plugin: StatPress.

It seems to do just about everything Google Analytics will do -- only it doesn't have the pretty map pictures.

Being severely statistics challenged myself when it comes to site stats, I find StatPress easier to figure out and get information from than G Analytics.

I just started using it on a couple of my WP blogs a couple of days ago and already understand more about what's going on with visitors and with my site than I did with GA.

Just wish I had something like StatPress for my non-WP sites!

I'm gonna go with the VBulletin/Wordpress bridge. This thing is working really well for me on a site I'm about to launch, and is allowing me to have a common user authentication solution for my entire site.

Wow Gary, I like the Stats plugin! I couldn't exclude my IP on the stats thing I was using, now I can. Like the way it looks too!

Question: The WordPress Page Link Manager, how is it working with 2.5.1 if works? I've been wanting to add pages to categories. Don't need the other stuff, lol.

    Great finds though.

Can anyone recommend a plug-in that I can use for readers to subscribe to my blog. I have been trying to find something similar to what Shawn Collins uses on his Affiliate Marketing blog.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated

Must've fallen asleep somewhere, as I just noticed this comment and question.

The Page Link Manager works fine for me on 2.5.1. I really like being able to add or remove a page from those in the nav bar with it. Very useful, I feel.

Don't know of such a plugin for WordPress.

But it's very easy to set your blog feed up with FeedBurner.com, and they give you the options of putting code on your site for people to subscribe either by RSS in a browser or by email. With that email option, people are sent an email when you post.

I have Feedburner for most of my blogs.

Aweber also does what you are asking about. You tell it the address of the rss feed and tell it how many posts to wait before sending an email that includes part or all of the post.

I think I have gone a bit too crazy with the plugins
Some of them like the database ones may be overlap but I guess you can never go wrong with too much backup.

    wp-supercache
    wp-gbcf
    wp-dbmanager
    wp-db-backup
    popshops
    podpress
    pagemash
    order-categories
    nextgen-gallery
    google-sitemap-generator
    get-recent-comments
    breadcrumb-navigation
    all-in-one-seo-pack
    akismet
    advanced-category-excluder

I'm pretty widget crazy myself here's my list:

    All in one SEO

    Contact Form 7

Daikos video widget (works for youtube, google and a few others)

dropdown archives (so the archive links aren't a mile long)

KB countdown widget (a timer until a date i.e. opening day, superbowl)

posts by author (shows author name and recent posts at end of post)

    random image widget

wp-forecast (up to the minute weather)

    wp-polls/wp-polls widget

Figure I would bump this since it's a year old, might have some new members, new plugins and now I'm in the market to actually use them. I have All In One SEO Pack on my list, since I see that one mentioned a lot. What else is everybody using?
