    Shaky Morning Here in Indiana
Did anyone else feel the earthquake?

It was a 5.4 and the epicenter is speculated to be in West Salem, Illinois.

For someone in the Midwest, earthquakes are kind of a strange thing. I guess for folks in the west they aren't quite so "odd". Supposedly, this is the strongest earthquake for this area, but I haven't gotten the latest details as of yet.

Sorry about the rumblings. I don't mind earthquakes as long as no one gets hurt (and nothing gets broken).

The midwest gets a lot more earthquakes than most people realize. One of the worst earthquakes in modern history had its epicenter in Missouri.

    Thanks Kevin,

I noticed you are from NY. On the news, they said it was felt as far as New York but it probably wasn't much.

There was only a little damage that I have heard so far. A small part of a roof in Kentucky fell to the street below. And some light fixtures at a University broke so they evacuated the students to the lower floors of the dorm. I am not sure of anything else yet. So far, no one was injured. Thank God for that!

Nope, and I'm very far west in New York. Only rumbling I felt this morning was a wood pecker hammering on our stove pipe for half an hour

    Thanks Kim,

It didn't even wake them. They are like logs once they fall asleep. Surprisingly, it did wake up my husband. I have always said the house could fall down around him and he still wouldn't wake up.

Makes me wonder about all those times that he "didn't hear the kids" in the middle of the night.

Heh, got up, grabbed a bat, thought someone was breaking into the house.

I never felt a thing, but I just saw a local TV news blurb saying folks in several locations here in the Missouri Ozarks (southwest Missouri) reported feeling the ground shake.

Since about January, I've been too busy ducking thunderstorms and floods (get it? "ducking" floods?) to worry about such little things as earthquakes.

What a totally bizarre year. Earth, wind, and fire rebelling everywhere.

Local news said people here in Ohio felt it but no reports yet of any damages. It wasn't enough to wake us up though.

I heard it this morning but thought it was out Great Danes making a lot of noise running into our room. Didn't know until I turned on the news that it was the quake so the puppies just came into the room because they were scared. Poor puppies!

I spoke to my dad and a few friends this morning and it really freaked them out.

Here's the IndyStar article this morning and found another really cool article from about 5 years ago about the faults.

Brace yourself for After Shocks and hope everyone is okay! Everyone's fine here in south central, just a little worked up.

    Hope everyone is ok.

We live south of Fort Worth and we got pounded with hail, rain and wind last night.

According to my dad there has been several aftershocks but I haven't felt any, until about 30 seconds ago. That was a little freaky since I was fully awake this time!

    Felt it too!

I'm glad you said something. Thought maybe it was just me eating too much leftover Easter candy this morning!
