I received a very suspicious email to my yahoo email account today:

    Dear Yahoo! User,
We encountered a billing error when attempting to renew your Yahoo! service. This type of error usually indicates that either the credit card you have on file has expired or that the billing address we have is not current.

This is your final notice. Please take a moment to update your credit card information by clicking here and submitting your information.

Please note that we will attempt to renew your service five days from today. If we are still unable to charge your credit card at that time, your service will be terminated.

    Sincerely,
    Yahoo! Billing Department

The clicking here link opened http://www.yahoo-updates.com/

I already wrote to Yahoo! about this fraud, but all I got is two automated replies....
I hope they stop this guy before he fools a lot of people.... I checked betterwhois and the domain is clearly NOT the property of yahoo.

    Scams, and more scams....

I'd send a copy of mail and complaint to namehost@WORLDNIC.NET technical team, DYNU.COM and a CC: to dirk0p@gmx.net.

I like how they ask for your debit card - and your pin number. Oof... I really hope people don't fall for these scams.

This is how smart criminals are, they see someone else getting arrested for doing this, so they copy-cat it?!?!? And they aren't even smart enough to try and fake the whois info.

Do a view source on the page that loads and copy the URL in the src tag. Paste it into your browser and it resolves to hardrape.net/ult

Here is the whois for that domain direct from the registrar... this is clearly a foreign operation and the whois on the first domain is bogus:
    https://joker.com/index.joker?t_whoi...hois&Submit=go

Their host dynu.com is amazingly unhelpful. They have been notified, they have hung up on me 3 times while trying to explain to them what is happening. They gave me an amazingly weird run-around/excuse. I think they may be part of it.

Credit card and identity theft creaps who sell porn, kidnapped sex slaves, and make phoney ID's for terrorists. Typical operation for the Balkins and Crimea area.

Well - somebody's on the ball!

    The site no longer resolves.

What's the betting on yahoo-billing.com appearing next week?

Seems you have to call and accuse the host and say you are calling the local police if they don't remove it.

She removed the site within the hour of my calling.

I call the hosts on all of these, I shut down two of the bestbuy scam ones, this is the first host who refused to take instant action. Seems fishy.

Yes, it does seem fishy, Chet.
I think your calling them and threatening them did it. Yahoo still didn't reply to my warning... I guess that's what happens when you are so big.
I hope not many people got fooled.
