This forum is the best source of information that I have found. Read through the threads and ask questions when you have them. I don't know of any ebook on affiliate marketing that could even come close.

And welcome to ABW, glad to have you.

I agree with Bettylou, don't waste your money on e-books when you can get all the information for free from this forum. The search feature is your friend.

This forum is a fairly comprehensive source for information about affiliate
marketing, and from the responses you've received, I can only
assume the members here take care of each other.

    BUT.

Don't be fooled to think that this is the only resource you have or that
there is no better resource or even ebook which could challenge
    it, because there is.

If you are serious about making money with affiliate marketing then
the only book you ever need, along with this forum - is

"Confessions of a Lazy Super Affiliate" .........

that will reveal the shroud, if there ever was one.

You see, the problem with this forum, and many others, is that they
are filled with people's opinions, disputes, conflicting ideas and FLUFF.

This book will save you a lot of wasted time and effort and the
'search' function on this forum will help you as well.

    I hope that helps.

    Damien.

PS. I'll introduce myself later..sorry, don't mean to be rude.

We keep the "fluff" in fluff categories so people can fairly easily find the meat.

Nice of you to come in and promote your book and bash the forum at the same time, but tried to do it nicely?

    Didn't work....

First of all, pick your niche, it should be something you are interested in (you will become more knowledegable, if you're not already).

Once you know the focus of your site, you have to go through the exercise of building the site, or incorporating affiliate banners, products into your existing site. That's website-related, so your affiliate focus may not kick in just yet.

What worked for me is that I KEPT coming back back here whenever I faced something new. I don't think any one source can be a guide, as what makes you succeed may be completely different from the next person. It's like picking up a book to learn how to become a successful sales/marketer (or real estate, or any topic, for that matter). Read all you want, but practice makes perfect. I have no idea what the "shroud" is, work hard, it will pay off. Like any business.

I disagree with the previous post about "fluff".. while there are certainly off-topic threads, you will experience much of the same as these folks. I'm an affiliate, and I've come across issues of cloaked links, leaky merchants, website design & hosting issues (mine included).. the list is endless.

people's opinions, disputes, conflicting ideas and FLUFF
Yes indeed.. why would you want to read the opinions of people who have succeeded in making a living at this??

For me, 6 months ago I moved up to the next level, and my monthly commissions are a real source of income. I'm not saying my opinion is valuable (it took an unbelievable amount of hrs to find MY winning formula), but there are people here who make this a full-time business, and their opinion & advice is free. That's a pretty good deal!

OnlineMoneyHelpDesk - PS. I'll introduce myself later..sorry, don't mean to be rude.
Take your time and add working hyperlinks to your site, "the Forums where you can network with fellow members", don't forget to build the "concentrated catalogue of products and services Successful Internet Millionaires use."
And if you need a "Simple, effective and honest advice on how to make money online" just read ABW “have fun, relax, and learn”.

You know I want to hate the ebook cons but I think we might owe them a debt of sorts. They distract so many people from doing real affiliate marketing and disillusion them about the possibilities of AM that they're doing those of us who are established in the business a great service. They're keeping down the dust and the competition. Perhaps we should be encouraging them.

SiteSell.com has a free ebook called The Affiliate Masters Course that's pretty good. There's some advertising embedded but there doesn't seem be be any hype.

Just trying to answer the original question...

    Whoa.

I refuse to argue with you people, that was not my intention. So I'll just
    let you know the truth.

    1) that book is not mine, Loxley. Being experienced within affiliate marketing,
you should know this; Confessions of a Lazy Super Affiliate was wrote by
Chris Rempel - who is one of the forerunners for affiliate marketing.
Believe me, if that was my book...I wouldn't be here trying to help newbies.

    2) I don't mean to offend by suggesting this forum has fluff in it. Every forum
has fluff, that's just the nature of it. It was certainly not my intention to
    'bash' the forum...
I was just trying to illustrate that a well-wrote ebook/book can give you exactly
what you need to hear and answer all, if not most, of your questions.

    3) to the person referring to my site: that isn't even in it's infancy yet. The reason
it's unfinished is because I'm earning a lot of money as an internet marketing
consultant...the sites being tested by my designers, so that would be why there is
no working hyperlinks. Thanks for the advice though...even if it was somewhat
    useless and cocky.

    4) I AM SORRY. From my experience in other forums I should know that a noob to
the forum, plugging or suggesting resources is a little suspicious. Rest assured,
I don't work that way. I just know what works & I know what doesn't...and
    I'm always refining.

I hope we can start again from afresh & I look forward to offering your visitors
    some useful advice and information.

    Damien.

I think that you will find most folks here are very protective of this forum. We are more than colleagues, we are also friends, for the most part. Occasionally, we fight but we are all here with one goal in mind. That goal being to learn from other's valued opinions and to help where we can.

If you are sincere in your apology, then I am sure you will be welcomed on this forum. So let me be the first to say, "Welcome to ABW".

Thanks BettyLou, believe me- the apology is sincere.

I just can't help tell it how it is.

I'd like to network a little and make some new friends, but the truth
is- I'm not here to make friends; I'm here to help newbies get on their
feet. So I'm sorry if I get up any of your noses but I'm not sacrificing
my integrity to please other people.

Let's keep the relationship mutual, at least..ey?

What the hell have I walked into? I am new here, I just introduced myself but I can't seem to create a thread yet ...??

Any way, I was going to suggest an ebook. I think someone already mentioned it though. The Affiliate Masters Course...it's a bit outdated now but it's really comprehensive. Then I noticed Confessions of a Lazy Super Affiliate and though I hate to agree with this guy, he's right about the quality of that ebook. In fact, that's the only ebook I've ever bought on affiliate marketing and it really did save me a lot of time. I know this guy can't be the author (Chris Rempel) because that guy is too busy living it up in Hawaii or somert.

I also have a question as well. I have read the rules but I may have missed it. Leader above said that this guy was spamming...How? I just want to make sure I don't make any stupid mistakes.

Any way, it's great to finally have found a decent forum where I can hang out with like minded people.

Ya know what? I Knew some people would be onto it, I was just hoping
those would understand I'm making an effort to contribute here..

I'm not in this for the short-term. I'm not spamming. I have changed my name
    to something less in-your-face.

I don't want my site to be ridiculed for a few stupid mistakes I made here.

I am sorry, I want to help people in this forum, and get some advice from
    time to time.

Please can you at least judge me after I have made 10 posts?

    Sincerely,

    Damien.
