    Economy Poll.
    Out of curiosity:

    1. Affiliates: Is the economic downturn effecting your income?
    2. If so, are you remedying this by looking at new, different merchants, finding new ways to promote existing merchants, or are you just sticking tight and waiting it out?

I am a food merchant who sells jams, salsas and bbq sauces online, through affiliates, at retail stores and various types of shows. As the economy gets "tighter" we a re noticing a slow down in sales.

One thing we have done to try and increase sales was to develop and come out with new line this past spring...dip mixes. We felt they would appeal to those who maybe don't use our other products and attract new customers, and, perhaps stimulate purchases from existing customers. So far, they have really helped to make up for the slacking sales we, and everyone, are experiencing. They are actually our lowest priced items now, and we purposely kept them on the low side.

We are contemplating a few new product lines hoping we will experience the same outcome, but being a small business we have to be very careful not to overextend ourselves.

We're seeing 30% growth this year. I think the economy is hurting people, but there are some businesses that see a benefit. Anything that helps someone tighten their belt, save money, or earn money will see a rise in activity.

As an affiliate, I would advise you to look at where you are spending your money and look at those industries. If you are shifting your spending habits, you can be sure others are as well.

Save people money and show them where to buy the same stuff for less, and they will be happy. Let them shift their money to your merchants and you can benefit as well.

Seasonal products are selling well i.e. WORXyardtools. Fitness is still strong over last year even high price point euipment like Sole. We hope that gas prices will drive (no pun intended) people to buy fitness products to workout at home. Diet products are still strong.

Anyone seeing any bounce will find out it's false.

People have been spending their HELOC's and now THAT party is over, they've had to resort to maxing out their credit cards to stay afloat, and in a few months the excrement is really gonna hit the circulating cooling device.
