    I understand that the key to your heart is on-time payments...but let's have some fun too! (Or else this affiliate manager's brain might rot.)

    Carolyn the obvious thing that comes to mind is to leverage the Holidays coming up. Holloween -Thanksgiving -Christmas half page 9-12 item showcase displays updates every 2 weeks with some great collectable holiday themed items....AT DISCOUNTED PRICES!

    Mike & Charlie ...

    If they won't adopt and feed a bird ..flip them one! BBQ some Gator and remember to flush WhenU..

    Trademark it Andy as you already own the copywrite the moment you published the first one. To my knowledge you were the very first AM in history to actually concentrate on making creatives that converted and deserved showcase exposure on affiliate pages. The merchant storefront pages wouldn't qualify as they were just merchant hosted doorway pages with affiliate links feeding into them.

    How soon ABW members forget what a pioneer Andy was when he became the first AM here to concentrate strickly on judging his program based upon affiliate sales ..# of checks cut and sustainable high conversion ratios. PS: He also weekly tests purchases the flacky reporting network interface to verify tracking.

    Yikes! That'd incent people to DELAY purchasing!

    It's bad to do anything that breaks the momentum of the current purchase. Best to only show something like that AFTER they've bought (on the thank-you page), and present it as a "returning customer" offer.

    But even then, everyone who sees it will learn to do this:

    Day 1: Buy little cheapie item to trigger sale prices.
    Day 2: Buy all the rest of the stuff.

    Pretty soon I could see revenue effectively falling 10% as more and more people learned to milk that setup.

    A variant that probably *does* work, though, is to offer access to a special, limited-selection "clearance" area--after the original order is completed. Lane Bryant does a variation of this. The Clearance stuff is never so great that it'd cause someone to delay ordering The Good Stuff (or cause them to order some little thing just to get to the clearance items), but it's a little perk for a repeat order.
