    Hello In There
Two versions, depending on how old you are, of a good way to look at life. Might bring a tear to some (myself included.)

Over 40 (or other good souls)

That's John Prine, prior to his throat cancer I believe.

    -OR-

Natalie Merchant (love) and Michael Stipe doing the John Prine song.

    Enjoy. And live it.

    Awesome song! Thanks Kevin!

I had to listen to the "old" person's version to get all the lyrics. LOL - Bette kills it, too:

Here's what he actually looks like while singing it.

He's really wonderful. This is the first I've heard of him. Sad that he got throat cancer.

Thanks again for sharing a great song!

Oh, he beat it. Pretty sure he's alive and well. He did Austin City Limits last year (which is total Noth Street Cred).

I've just found John Prine to be the Least Common Denominator over the years. You know... you meet someone at a party that you're pretty sure is cool, then you say: "Ever heard of John Prine?".

If they say yes? Friends for life.

If they say no? Not unexpected. Most haven't.

But the ones that have, or end up liking him, generally turn out to be really, really good people.

Very cool he beat the cancer and still singing. I assume that's what you mean by he did Austin City Limits - I just started getting into country music a few years ago. Discovering these old country classics is fun. :-) I'll certainly be listening for more of his stuff.

Love your least common denominator analogy. Guess Jim and I qualify as good people.

I really never heard of him before this thread. I just spent a little over an hour listening to some of his songs on YouTube. Some great stuff. Thanks, Kevin.

That's a great song, haven't heard it in quite a while.

J.Prine used to be quite popular in the 70's. They used to even play him on prog. rock stations. Famous for his quirky lyrics.

Check out the lyrics to (In Spite of Ourselves) John Prine

He aint got laid in a month of sundays
I caught him once and he was sniffin my undies
He aint too sharp but he gets things done
Drinks his beer like its oxygen
    (female part of a duet)

I've been humming "Hello in There" and "Paradise" all day!

I'll have to look up John Prine on iTunes and see if they have him so I can download his music.
