I'm trying to learn how I can use my log files and webstats to understand more about what spiders and bots are visitng me but I'm not sure what to do exactly.

I run WebTrendsLive on my site and I notice the following web logs on my server: access_log, access_log.processed, and error_log. If you were me (fortunately you're not), what would you be looking for?

Any tips, tools, or methods you use for this type of research?

    Best regards,

Here's a related question ... I'm looking for an end-to-end tracking solution to see which keywords people have clicked on to get to my site and which ones ended up with sales. Also a softrware interface than can "read" where the originating site/keyword was, and then dynamically generate a "source code" so if they call in to order, the affiliate still gets credit. Any I posting this in the right forum?

I'm a newbie here and looking forward to exchanging some great ideas (and all the fun BS too!)

Try out I've spoken to them for the same needs and while I have not actually used them or anyone yet, they seem to have the right solutions.
