    WOW.

I love but on the threshold of summer it is not exactly the right time for it (even IMO).

Wow, that's some fast snow. Didn't get a drop of snow in my parts this year, maybe next year..

Dang! Wrong time of year - for sure. We had almost no snow here in the Mid-Atlantic this year. Since I'm a beach person at heart, I certainly don't mind a mild winter. I've got pictures of some 18 and 24 inchers here on the streets of Baltimore from times past, but none recently.

Yeah but Gary, what's your elevation?

You wanna talk screwy snowstorms, let me tell you about Boston metro May 8th, 1977 ('76?). We got eighteen inches of snow in one storm. Lost power for three days which is how long it took for the temps to warm up enough to melt the damn stuff.

Pretty much no matter what kind of crazy weather story anyone can tell, someone from New England can top it.

Whoa. That must have crushed Beantown!

We live at around 7500' elevation, so it's not that much of a surprise. Just over the snow this year. <--coming from someone who skied 1000 days in the Wasatch Mtns during my 20s! I love snow, but in Jan, Feb, March and even Apr. May is pushing it

Actually they got the snow removed and the power back on in Boston the following day, so I was back at work as usual. But I lived in a suburb of Boston and in my neighborhood power was off for three days. The 'burbs were more vulnerable because by May 8th the trees are leafed out and all that heavy, wet snow broke a lot of tree limbs, which came down on power lines, which took days to repair.

And Boston is at sea level. I win.

How about that incredible, HUGE tornado and major hail storm north of Denver today? I think that's where the CNN people said it was. Personally, I was hiding under the sofa here in my Missouri living room yelling, "No. No. Go AWAY!" at that scary looking sucker!

I think strange forces from far, far away are playing with our weather, for their amusement. 3-4 days ago it was over 100 degrees here, and by today the temperature had dropped almost 50 degrees, and it poured, with thunder and lightning.

I've lived in seven different states in three distinct regions of the country. In every single one of those states, I've heard "the natives" chuckle and say with a measure of pride -- "No place on earth with weather this changeable. If you don't like the weather we got, just stick around five minutes and it'll change."

I swear that's a common statement in Nebraska, Colorado, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, South Dakota, AND Missouri. (Think I listed 'em all.) And in every case, the locals were absolutely convinced that they were unique that way.

Ah, the weather. We can't do anything about it. But sometimes at least it helps to talk about it. (Duck! Here comes more hail and brimstone!)

Gary, CA is rightly not on your list - the weather seldom changes real fast here. This major change was pretty gradual for about 3 days, then the roof blew off today.

Yeah I sure can! We got home two weeks ago from Florida and during our first week home, it was 71 degrees up here in the mountains one day and 12" of snow the next! Two snow storms that week left us with 17" of the white stuff, but it's gone now and it's beautiful and warm again.

Saw a cow moose and calf grazing through it, and hummingbirds scramblin' right out the kitchen window this morning

lol Gary, didn't drive through fresh snow, but drove through Nevada (90 degrees) to Arizona (90 degrees) to St George UT (90 degrees) and then WHAM 50-60 degrees the rest of the way to Salt Lake City. Drove up a mountain to see snow, had a snowball fight and gladly headed back down to "reality" but it never got warm after that!

Oh and we went up the mountain because of this:

We had to see what it was. We got there and:

    Yup, just a sign! lol.
