I've received these notices before. Since it's nothing I signed up for or requested, I've always treated them as spam and ignored them.

How can these jokers state this without being able to influence the search engines in any way?

They use a copy of DMOZ on their site, then imply that you need to pay to retain your DMOZ listing - completely untrue of course.

I wonder how many sites are duped into paying this?

Ignore them and maybe they will go away! No one can guarantee you a top listing in all the search engines. I feel the same way about this as EmDub, I didn't ask for it so they can give me a free listing if they want, but I certainly won't be paying for it!

Oscar.. type topsites.us into Google and you'll find that the number one match is.. my site with this page.

What Topsites LLC doing is basically fraud, but it's evolving and is now a lot more subtle than it was. Nonetheless, it's a zero traffic site supported by spam and parasiteware and is a complete ripoff.

They will claim that clicking the button enters you into a legal contract, and then if you don't pay they actually put that on the listings to blackmail you!

Best thing to do is report it as spam and ignore it.

Thanks all for the insight - I was a bit dubious about how they could guarantee me first place in all those SEs for that price...

    Into the trash it goes!

They have a really, really crummy bit of parasiteware which bombards the victims with irrelevant search results every few seconds. The phrasing is very carefully done, they can't actually get you onto Yahoo! or Google.

That particular page has had 5,621 hits so I guess it must have saved some people's money

    Dynamoo,

I didn't realize you'd had such extensive correspondence with the Topsites brass! If the opportunity presents itself again, you might inquire if they know what is, and are aware that it isn't welcomed by most webmasters.

On behalf of everyone your pages have undoubtedly helped, thanks! People need to be aware of scum like this, and it takes time to build pages that warn them of what lies ahead.

Thanks for taking the time to let everyone know about this scam!

May all net operations who's ebiz plan is to provide fuel to the spammers or prosper from unsolicited e-mail campaigns die a slow painful death. Consumer backlash, like one on a fishing rod. requires getting to the source of the knot. Unraveling the havoc of the spamming net exploiters has become a passion for thousands of dedicated individuals.

Too bad they often uncover affiliate networks at the root of the problem. I notice even the wanks at the DMA and IMA are being forced to finally take a stand and label Opt-Out e-mail marketers as spammers as their members businesses crumble. Amazing the networks have never ever questioned their Duper buddies acting as frontend spam machines. Putting up a notice spam is not allowed, while operating the recruiting/monitizing frontend for spammers is as 2 faced as any operation that fences stolen goods.

Time for a major house cleaning at the networks forcing the e-mail scrapper lead merchants to have to go indy or underground where they belong. The media news hounds following the virus/spyware/adware/spammer buzz trails will uncover those turning a blind eye to the fact they indirectly monitize the perps.
