Exclamation Newbie Here - Paralyzed on Where to Start
I am new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Melanie and I am the right hand "man" of a national real estate investor trainer.

    Here's my situation...

I desperately want to start up an incoming producing business online because I want additional streams of income (like everyone else!). I have alot of knowledge of internet marketing and such from working with my boss but I am COMPLETELY PARALYZED on what to do on my own. I have no clue where to start, what to focus on, what to sell, etc.

Can anyone help by telling me their story of getting started, how they came to the decision to focus on their particular market, etc.?

Welcome. If you dive right into reading you'll probably find what you are looking for. As for where to start...I posted this on another thread but it's worth repeating.

6)Learn about keyword research and niches

7)Do keyword researches to find a niche.

8)Find affiliate programs that fit your research.

9)Buy your domain and hosting account.

10)Build your website based on what you've learned about html, php, wordpress, etc

11)Promote your website based on what you've learned about online marketing, seo, adwords

    12) Make money

    13) Repeat steps 7-12
There's no secrets, no special formulas, just do it. People focus on what sells, what they have an interest in, or a combo of both. If you already know steps 1-4 then you are ahead of the game.

Read the magic bullet thread and the thread called the truth about affiliate marketing

    Welcome to ABW Melanie!

I'd suggest reading Revenue Magazine and reading about the affiliates they profile each month.

Revenuetoday.com is the magazine's web site and you can start by reading all the currently posted affiliate stories in the affiliate advantage section.

You'll read plenty about how many got their start and how they went about building a business out of nothing.

Good luck! It's a lot of fun if you don't let it overwhelm you.
    Peace,

    Rexanne

    I'll check it out.

You are right about being overwhelming. I'm already there!!

I am finding it hard to navigate this board (maybe I am just brain dead today!). Could you or anyone else help with that?

No one can help you find a niche, that is something you'll have to do based on your own interests and ideas. What do you like to do? What do you like to buy? What makes you want to buy what you like to buy?

When you find out, keep it to yourself, as good ideas are copied quickly.

I mean I could tell you that shoes sell well. But just because that works for me, it doesn't mean that it will work for you or that you'll be interested in it. (I don't sell shoes but I always use that as an example because they do sell online.)

All we can do is point you to the right tools, here is one of them.
