I am not sure what they are doing. It automatically updates when I update my site.
I tried whois and came up with nothing.
I searched google and came up with nothing..
They do still have my affiliate links in..
Wondering if they are using it as a front to sign up for affiliate accounts?

That domain name is resolving to your IP address. Weird. So I don't think someone has stolen your site but I can't explain why that domain name is resolving to Flamingoworld.com.

Could be frame forwarding. There is whois info on akilab.com maybe same person. This is all the whois info on the akilab.net

    registrar: GO DADDY SOFTWARE, INC.
    whois: whois.godaddy.com
    referrer: http://registrar.godaddy.com
    Nameservers:
    NS2.ONEONONEINTERNET.COM
    NS.ONEONONEINTERNET.COM
    status: ACTIVE
    expires: 04-dec-2003

akilab.net doesn't seem to have a WHOIS entry at all.

However, the detailed DNS for akilab.net data says:

    akilab.net NS ns2.oneononeinternet.com
    akilab.net NS ns.oneononeinternet.com

So the nameservers are different from yours:

    flamingoworld.com NS NS2.PCDUDES.com
    flamingoworld.com NS NS.PCDUDES.com

so really that shouldn't resolve at all.

    Hmmmm.

    Hi,

Although the nameservers are different, the whois shows that akilab.net is on the same webserver as your sites using the same ip address. If that's the case and there is actually nothing setup for akilab.net yet, then it is probably just resolving to another site on the same ip (all yours). Your web host may be able to shed more light on it.

If you consider it a computer crime, I would contact the FBI computer crime div.in MN.
See what they have to say.

Exactly. Go to your webhost with it and let them sort it out. Most likely, they just have it pointing to the wrong directory on your server.

I did let my hosting company know and they are looking into it.
They said they would contact me shortly.

This is so weird, not your normal site copier.
If it had been, I would have just contacted them, but in this case there was no one.

Will let you know what, if anything I find out.

For what it's worth, PcDudes is a reseller for oneononeinternet, which is my hosting company. So maybe it is just a server issue.

Sure hope this snafu works out quickly for you Connie. Hate to see this contentless domain start advertising their URL for Blue Flamingo paint and a "I hate Red sports cars" campaign.

I think it is human error in setting up the name server entry or the web site (wrong path).

    Connie,

You could set up a header detection script to catch this domain and redirect somewhere else. Then you could forward it to another domain (of your choosing), and prevent this particular domain from access to this type of theft.

ugh! this one comes up thru alabanza.com, a company that resells hosting accounts to people!

you arent hosting thru alabanza assumably, but your host is buying accounts thru them....

hmmm, i recall having a conversation recently with someone about alabanza

    the irony...

It has nothing to do with her host, this is just someone redirecting their domain name to her site using masking.

Why they would do it is beyond me since all the tracking code remains hers, they aren't making any money from it - so why are they doing it??

    Hi,

I had the EXACT same thing happen some time ago. It turned out to be something with the dns from the host. Apparently, all private dns's need to point to a domain, and the hosting cos. sometimes randomly point them to domains on a shared server.

I discovered it because I noticed a domain pulling images from my web site when I was reviewing my logs.

If this is the problem, your hosting company should be able to correct the problem for you.

This looks like an error the host made to me.

Most likely they pointed the domain name to the wrong IP address.

Got a reply from my hosting company:

"There was an IP conflict with your site and akilab.net. We have resolved the conflict. akilab.net will stop resolving to your site within 24 hours."

So it looks like just a screwup. Guess I am lucky they didn't have it screw up and have some other site show up when you went to mine!

And I am in the process of moving to a different host with a dedicated server, so I am not too worried. I am moving to Rackspace.

It was probably a new account or the administrator was fixing things/screwing them up as all administrators do.

Odd, I have had an IP conflict before, and one site always won out over the other and did not show the same content - but the winning domain's content.

Did your site continue thru this unscathed?
