Net neutrality / The Net Ends in 2012
Do you think there is any truth to this? If so I guess I better get my money while the getting is good.

    http://ipower.ning.com/netneutrality

Every significant Internet provider around the globe is currently in talks with access and content providers to transform the internet into a television-like medium: no more freedom, you pay for a small commercial package of sites you can visit and you'll have to pay for seperate subscriptions for every site that's not in the package.

Your quote sounds more like what's happening with cable television subscriptions than what's happening with the Internet.

Cannot see how that could ever happen, but if it did it would be nothing less than a crime. It would mark an end to "surfing the net". Just another example of business looking to extort people out of their money by nickel and diming them to death.

Good way to get traffic, fear marketing. Not worried about it.

Plus I knew these guys looked familiar, I remember seeing their past videos show up on the Most Watched Today page at YouTube:

    News: YouTube Closing Down
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkvTa52fOHc

This is their YouTube channel which you can find links to their site:
    http://www.youtube.com/user/AtheneWins

You see a lot of cleavage in the videos. Cleavage = traffic. YouTube Closing Down = traffic. The Net Ends In 2012 = traffic. You get the idea.

Maybe the death of the Internet in 2012 will destroy the planet. Perhaps the Mayan calendar ending in 2012 was really related to the Internet. Maybe the Mayans were techies.

I don't think the political powers would allow this to happen.

I agree with Trust. That site has a huge number of Diggs. I suspect that there is a bit if viral marketing going on there. Plus, the cleavage does help the traffic. It looks like the gal in the video is also selling porn on their YouTube page. Doh! Now I just sent a thousand more guys to the page.

Another possibility is that the ISPs mat be working on a completely new Internet communications technology. The current system works, but only due to thousands of band-aids that barely hold it together.

If the Internet were to be commercialized and controlled by the mega-ISPs, it would be the death of affiliate marketing.
There's good, fast and cheap. Pick any two.

    That's good to know.

I didn't watch the video, I just read the text...short attention span.

For some reason it doesn't sound too far fetched to me. A little silly yes, because we already pay for the net, but I really could see that happening...not in 2012 though.

Dangit, no wonder I don't get any traffic, I have no cleavage to speak of.

    Oh, wait, I'm a guy, I guess that's a good thing.
Following everyone else is a GREAT way to become average.

Nothing surprises me anymore. I just read something online earlier this week about Time Warner Cable putting caps on data transfers each month, and if you go over that, they're going to charge you. The cap mentioned was 40GB/month.

There's just too much money out there right now, and everyone wants a piece of it, but many of them don't want to work hard like the rest of us to get it.

If someone could figure out a way to charge for the air that we breath, they'd do it.

    It's called the air tax.

Don't you get that on your cell phone, cable, electricity, water, and gas bills?

    Gee whiz.

We probably aren't too far off from that. But nobody will complain because it will be packaged just right. We need this air tax to protect our freedoms!

Hey, they already figured out how to make people pay for water in a bottle...and pay a LOT. How about $6 bucks for bottled water at a ball park (higher than the gas). Go try to find a water fountain there.

The funny thing about water is how caught up they've gotten with the packaging. It's just like vodka is/was in terms of the fancy packaging. The fancier the bottle, the higher the price, and has nothing to do with the quality of the water.

You're right, but we fall for that marketing. So I guess if we design "fancier" web pages, we can charge higher prices for our products?
