REI has decided to start charging sales tax to NY State customers. So moving forward, we will continue to support our NY-based Affiliates.

That is great news. Do the former affiliates from NY need to reapply? Make sure you post a thread in the NY forum announcing this. And also get a mod to make a notation in the list of merchgants terminating that you are now tax compliant. Thank you very much for your support!

Well done Gary - you've provided a real service to affiliates and merchants. We had decided when word came down on this new law not to abandon participation by NY affiliates as we do not believe what our affiliates do for internet marketing falls within the purview of the intent of the new law. However, addition of specific restrictions in the merchants terms of service tighten up the rebuttal even more.

Thank you for the time, effort and information you have shared here. Hopefully all merchants will re-look their initial reaction and let calmer, more informed thinking prevail.
