Blogger Flags Misspellings--In the HTML?! Is This For Real?
I just read that Blogger will automatically surround what it perceives to be a misspelled word with special span tags that say it's a spelling error!

I happened upon the above post while I was searching G for info on calls coming from a 6-digit "number." He had a post on that too (not the same post as above) and that's how I found his blog. But when I saw a link that said "Silly Google" I had to click and see what silly thing they were up to now, and that's what he said Blogger was doing!

Is that for real? If so, the OMG Factor is high on that one! And I'd call it a whole lot worse than "silly" if I was using Blogger and it *pointed out* imperfections in any way in the published version of a post. (I use WordPress, but I think it's good to pay attention to the pros/cons of other options.)

Or does it just do that in the preview mode, so the author can see the flagged words...and then remove those lines for the live post?

    Another reason to use Wordpress...

If that was in preview mode, a simpler way to show it would be appropriate, certainly not a spiderable tag!

I do use WordPress, but I still like to know what the other platforms do (especially if it's something ridiculous enough to put them on my "avoid at all costs" list).

When I read the post I mentioned, I thought it was so over-the-top that maybe it was baloney, but so far no debunkers, so I guess it is true!

    a spiderable tag
That's what got my eyes popping out...that they would basically tell every SE out there, "Hey we think this person's spelling sucks!" I sure wouldn't want some software's "editorial opinion" inserting itself onto my pages!

Blogger shouldn't care what someone's spelling is like. Sometimes non-dictionary words or offbeet speeluns are used 4 an intentional effeck, aftur awl...
