is that the same "innovation" that LS likes?

or at least did, with the previous regime?

yeah, that's why I quoted 'network'... wonder how many of the merchants they represent would want to be promoted in a manner that pushes the envelope.

Very interesting.. not sure how I feel about a "grey" area...

This company will never see my sites, or make a dime off my traffic. They just can't have it both ways, and I'm less trusting than I was before (I was prepared to be open-minded).

I've said it before - as a network, will they poach ideas from every affiliate who joins..?

The network will teach you how to use the gray area.... I bet their merchants will be thrilled with that...

Look guys, if you want to be the USA's leading super affiliate and then take it global you have to stomp the competition. You do this by getting inside. Become a OPM so you can have access to the competitions information. While you are doing that, build your own personal PPC campaigns around the merchants you are an OPM for. Impress them with the results "see how many sales you've gotten since we took over".

After awhile that's not going to be enough. Take it to another level by becoming a network. Any competition that's left will surely be trashed because now you have the inside, inside track.

Hire some great PR people to spin you a fascinating story and pay all of the top internet marketing blogs a few bucks to promote your network. Appeal to peoples emotions, tell them how you are "different" and that you care.

On the sly you can appeal to merchants by saying "Look at all this affiliate data we have! We share all of our affiliates information with you, and they don't even have to join your program". Since you are already an OPM you have access to merchants. Get them to leave their current network and go with yours.

So now you are the big boss. You are an affiliate and you have affiliate data to build your campaigns around. You are an OPM so you have merchants to solicit when you start your new network. And you are a network, that takes the cake.

That my friends is how you become the leading super affiliate in the United States and abroad.

You can all Paypal me $49.95 for that info.

All info in this story is fictitious, any resemblance to persons or companies living (or dead) may be considered purely coincidental.

So, PaperJam is the self proclaimed rising star in the affiliate marketing space, but a very gray star indeed. No wonder they couldn't stand "the light" of ABW. Light exposes darkness.

So...if White Hat equals clean and ethical, and Black Hat equals dirty and unethical...then Pepperjam's COO is telling me I must be willing to be less than clean or less than ethical to be successful. I don't think so. As Haiko says, "Don't get me started."

Pepperjam doesnt just grey tactics. They are totally black. I used to work there and was trained to bid solely on trademarks in Google, MSN, and Yahoo. Kris Jones likes to act like hes innovative. Hes actually just a scum bag. Him being in control of a network mean that he will just bid on trademarks of him merchants and be able to hide it.

I wonder what the folks at G think of grey hat..?

Not sure this is the type of thing you want to announce to the world as a business practice... innovation is one thing, manipulating search engines is another...

No one from pepper care to comment?

To me it almost seemed like he was boasting.

Was thinking about this a little... I don't know the guy personally, can anyone confirm that video is actually him? Seems too stupid to say and certainly too stupid to post. Seems clients would want growth, I know they lust for it, we all do I suppose... but the video doesn't reflect well on them at all. Even the worst hucksters aren't so cavalier with their comments, most tell a better story and focus on (reported) sales, not tactics they may use to get there. I suspect the broadcast shine will soon be that we just don't understand what was meant... so we've got that to look forward to... :-)
