    Weather - Kansas
I am trying not to keep checking the radar image...I have everything prepared and in the basement soif we have to go down, we have all we will need. Hopefully that will be enough to make sure it doesn't hit us...

We are in Johnson County KS, and typically we do not get hit with tornados, but they are saying potential squaw lines after 10pm... Fingers crossed and all things done just in case...

We have the same stuff going on here. They are saying the worst will be around midnight. If you blow, hopefully you blow in my direction!

We had a couple of small tornados touch down south of Baltimore last evening. That is rare for Maryland but not unheard of. Fortunately, even though there was property damage, no one was hurt. The severe storms also knocked out power to 95,000+ homes/businesses - and some of them are still out tonight.

We'll be thinking about you both and hope you get bypassed by Mother nature's wrath.

I know it may sound sick, and it isn't that I want people hurt or things damaged, but I love storms. I love it when the adrenaline is flowing and storms are popping. I always wanted to be a weather spotter.

I see this on the news all the time and can not even imagine being in the line of tornadoes. I would be terrified! Stay safe and alert - I hope and pray for you and yours.

90 miles south of you, Bill, we had a terrible storm last night. My electricity has been off up until half an hour ago (knocked out at 7:00 pm EST last night)...

    Rolet, you're in our prayers.

ok so I called my good friend, whose husband is a camera man for the news and a storm chaser. He always tell us whether or not we need to worry or if we should just ignore the sirens. He has all of them in their basement, he called and said that because the straight line winds are so strong, over 50 mph, it is enough to tear up a house, that regardless of whether there is a tornado or not, we should go ahead and move to the basement....two of my kids are mad because they were sleeping...oh well....I figure if he is telling his wife and kids to sleep in the basement, then we should as well...still watching the news and the radars online....

Better safe than sorry. It is good that you are awake and aware (and have good contacts). Thundering here in good ol' NY but no worry of tornadoes. Stay safe!

As an ex-Kansas Citian I grew up and lived in that area, know it well. Connie I have to agree that a building thunderstorm is something to behold. I have had many a tornado pass by and actually grin when I see lightning.

My daughter was foolish enough to drive when the tornados hit Colorado last month. She saw two funnel clouds on either side of her. Listens now when the old man tells her to stay indoors and ride it out.

Aunesty I hope all is well and it blows over.
