Mastercard's Worldwide Centers of Commerce Index* for 2008 was released yesterday and it show that European and Asian cities have increased their influence in world commerce and that US cities continue to fall in influence. Los Angeles has dropped out of the top 10, leaving New York and Chicago as the only North American cities in the top 10.:"The future, however, appears to belong to Asia and Eastern Europe, whose cities represent the fastest rising regions within the Index."
*An annual research initiative designed to evaluate and rank how major cities compare in performing critical functions that connect markets and commerce around the world."

Really, when you think about the demise of the US Dollar, there is little surprise.
I believe, unfortunately, that we are in the latest stages of USA dominance in world affairs. We have the largest and most powerful military but that's about it. And that might not last.
