I recently signed up for Google AdWords. I have been having multiple problems with them and am wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same thing. I would appreciate any and all advice.

Having no problems, what specifically are the problems you are having?

My site is only approx. a week and 1/2 old. I signed up for AdWords early on and got about 80 hits a day from it. It took me a while to get the CTR up because I didn’t understand the way it worked yet and searched for all my keywords (approx. 100 to begin with) to see where my ad was placed. This was very stupid in hind site. But once I bounced back from that, everything was fine. Then my budget was exceeded two or three days in a row so I emailed them to find out why. In response, they basically said, too bad- it will work out in the end (I had set the budget pretty high to get a boost and was not planning on leaving it that way all month). Then they sent me an email saying they were concerned about my CTR even though it was higher than their minimum. All in all, I feel like I have to baby sit my campaigns to keep them happy and to make sure I pause the campaign when it goes over. I am very new to all this so it may be par for the course, but I am certainly annoyed.

I think the important thing to realize is that for their limit its a guarantee for 30 days I believe. Maybe someone else can confirm this for us. And they only ask you to keep active with your ads if the CTR is extremely low. Hell it makes money for you and for them. So they tend to be picky on everything from spelling and grammar to most importantly CTRs. Hope that info helps...

The CTR is important to Google because they don't want to waste AdWords space on things that never get clicked. The way they work it it is complex, but basically the higher up your results, the higher your CTR needs to be.

However, on the BIDS I work out what I can afford and go no higher. Unfortunately, affiliate marketing being what it is, I can only usual afford the cheapest clicks possible.

So, I tend to have quiet a wide number of search terms for individual pages with highly relevant keywords. It gets about 25% of my traffic that way and still makes a profit.

I have no problem with google adwords but they don't provide really good reports - we would be interested in knowing what kinds of ads appear on our website - which url's are hot in our site etc.

in fact, i observed that some of my competator ads were put on my site.

Webmasters needs to be careful in regard to this.

Did any one get a chq till now?

    Hi Vijaya

I think you're talking about AdSense not AdWords! (It's a fair point though).

    flash,
are you saying that the limit you set is your average over 30 days, meaning it can be higher & lower at their discretion?
What if you want to start out paying more at first to get the initial traffic & then lower it as time goes on?
I seem to recall them going over my limit once or twice and getting an email stating that they did so & they weren't going to charge me for the extra traffic...have times changed?

On a side note, I have a bone to pick with them because they shut down all of mine that were political in nature, but many of the keywords they suggest, from what I've seen, are sex/porn related. So that's okay, but politics and the issues that affect and run our nation are not? hmmmmm....

Thanks for all the help guys
So from what someone said, it might be because my average position is too high.. they expect more clicks.. oh well.. I might just find another way to advertise.. I don't need the hassel. If anyone knows of another way let me know.. Also, I will search the forums.
    Again~ Thanks
