    Bumper Cherry Crop
I have 2 trees, and an INSANE amount of cherries this year. If anyone in the WNY area wants some, PLEASE let me know, and I'd be happy to oblige.

Damn, I wish I lived closer. I'd take those off your hands.

I bought a cherry pitter recently and that has been such a little time-saver. Worth the twenty bucks.

What you need is some brandy so you can make brandied cherries which are unbelievably good on ice cream. *hic*

But seriously, some food banks will send a work crew to harvest fresh fruit. You might want to check that out.

    Ah! Excellent suggestion.

They literally look like grape vines this year. I went around the bottom branches on one tree, and got enough cherries for everyone on the block.

Love cherries. We make our own cherry jam. It's a good seller for us during the summer.

Kevin, we have apple trees that are going nuts because of the mild winters we've had the last three years. Last year hubby had to cut down a few branches that broke under the weight of the apples.

We also grow red currants and our plants are very, very productive. That's a great fruit bush to grow for making jellies and they make an amazing sauce to serve with ham. If you're into selling at farmer's markets they sell for about $5 a pint -- and -- they're not easy to find.

    Oh how I envy you.

If only cherries would grow in my part of Southern California.

Michigan has a bumper, too! Our neighbor (who has the tree) invited my 7 year old over to pick'em while there good. He came home with a huge bag.

The brandy trick sounds like something I'm gonna try.
