    This felt soooo gooood!
    As most of you know, I am owned by a 1,000 lb toddler named Kahlua (she's a 2 year old Quarter Horse) that's ready to be saddle trained and I'm doing it myself. Never done it before and I'm scared to death!!!

    With everything going on in my personal life I haven't been clear headed enough to work with her and she would pick up on my tension, causing her to get pushy and jumpy.

    Well, today I put my big girl panties on and said "Enough!" to my wallowing and worrying and snapped the lunge line on her. I have never shown her a lunge whip either but she went in both directions the first try!! It was so awesome and empowering to have this enormous animal listen and understand my commands to do something she had never done before so flawlessly.

    Yup, I'm pretty sure horses are better than husbands! LOL

    Good for you.

    I used to start all my own horses, so when I bought my little 7 year old unstarted foxtrotter mare 6 months ago I thought I still could do it.

    I forgot I was almost 50 years older than I was then. Hmm. After we scared each other badly I got smart and sent her to a trainer. Now we're having a good time on the trails.

    Good luck with your baby. Have fun but if you find yourself going in the wrong direction don't be too proud to admit you need help.

    Thanks ladies!

    Oh yeah, I'm not too proud to beg for help. I have my riding trainer on speed dial! LOL
    I think what has really helped is that I have had her since she was a weanling so she pretty much knows who's boss mare.....lol

    It was too hot and muggy to work her today, but yeah, I'll get some pics of her doing it.
    Thanks =]
