    Euro 2008 Discussion
How bland is today's Croatia-Turkey match compared to yesterday's Germany-Portugal one.................. I only wish we (Russia) had to play one of these teams (Croatia or Turkey) instead of the Netherlands tomorrow.

What are people's forecasts as to who'll be in the final?

Okay. Croatia is out... Turkey will play agains Germany in semifinals, and I believe the answer as to who will be fighting for the cup in the final is obvious. Germany will be one of the teams.

Wonderful discussion with yourself about the Euro 2008, Geno

Why so harsh on Turkey, eh? Our games proved to be more fun than any other, so far. No other team was able to come back from being down, we did three times in a row. We're under pressure with yellow card suspensions and injuries, but with this morale (Crotia beat Germans in the group games) I give Turkey 50% chance to be in the finals, against .............. the Netherlands, of course.

Russia's game tomorrow likely to be a repeat of your game with Spain, I believe.

You're here!! I had a feeling I'd see you in this thread after today's game.... Now my discussion with myself is ruined.

Congratulations on getting into the semifinals, Sam, but the way Turkey played today juxtaposed to the way Germany fought yesterday is what makes me think what I posted above.

It'll be a hard game to play, but we're ready...

Well, I sincerely hope you win against the Netherlands and the winner of Spain v. Italy, too. If we were to go to finals, I'd rather see us playing against Russia than any other from those four teams. We'd start celebrating even before the final game is played

Good game today -- Congrats to your team, Geno. My Polish friends were furious, though

If we can go through Germany, I hope Russia is the opposite team; that would make two teams voted least likely to win the competition play the in the finals.

That's what happen when you post in the middle of the night. I had to leave before the end of the game.
Yep, a well deserved deserved 3-1 for Russia.
    Spain or Italy?
Will Russia go all the way?

    So Final Four -

    Spain vs. Russia

    Germany vs. Turkey

Is this Euro tournament every year? And the World Cup every 4 years? And some of the same players in both tournaments? Best players of each country?

"Forecasts as who will be in the Final?"

I have no idea since I'm not up on who the good teams are. I have watched these games and some of the World Cup ones since they were on TV.

But I'll go with Germany vs. Russia. Germany since I was born over there and lived there many years when dad was in the service, even played a couple of seasons in my teens in a German/American Soccer League. Just know they can play some soccer/fussball

    good call....

I think Russia can pull this thing off. They have a young team that can run the full 90 mins...

It will be hard for Germany to keep up with that

Yep.... Turkey was very close, and both of their goals were beautiful... Sorry, Sam.

Hope to leave Spain for you. We'll see tomorrow.

Oy vey! Germany gave us a taste of our medicine with the last minute goal. It was a fun game and I am very proud of our team for their resillience and courage and for contributing their part in a memorable tournament.

If Russia can get past the Spaniards, I think they have better chance of winning the cup than the Germans, much luck to your team, Geno, they've been very impressive in their last game against the Netherlands.

It was 5 fantastic goals. The last one made the difference. I had a good time watching the game. I think Russia/Spain will be great too. Good luck for your team, Geno.
