Is This How Google Crawls Your Site?
For the past few days I've been seeing this on my logs
    74.125.16.37 (Google Inc)
California, Mountain View, United States, 0 returning visit
Ok, I would assume that's Google crawling my site except for it keeps getting to my site by searching for
    site:mysite.com very-specific term
It's the same 3 word term each time.

So what is this? I thought it was the google bot but that usually looks like

    crawl-66-249-66-132.googlebot.com (Google Inc)
    I'm just curious.

Sorry, can't help ya Shouldn't admit it but have to fess up to my dumminess I don't know how to tell about that info at all. I checked thru the numbers and do have the number: 74.125.16.37 like you have and do have in some area that Googlebot has visited, but I don't see anything else saying what you're saying.

Umm did notice I have a scooter showing. Does that mean Uncle Scooter? just kidding.

I have seen one of those, same IP except the last digits are .32 and the site: mysite-search-terms too. I scribble down all the weird things and do a series of whois lookups once in a while, but that is quite different and it is in my notes too.

I do not have any AdWords running on the site where that showed up in the logs. AdSense, yes.

It could be a manual search from someone inside Google

That's what I initially thought but who would search for
very-specific-term with the hyphens? I could imagine someone searching without the hyphens, but even so why would they search for site:mysite.com very-specific-term?

    Plus it's been (almost) daily.
