Hey, I just noticed all my affiliate web sites are down (and they were not last night during the fire at Alabanza). I also noticed that ABW Chat won't come up. Anyone else noticing this?

A major ssh security volnurability was found. I did the upgrade as soon as it became available but now I am having trouble on my server with a file that is no longer where it is supposed to be to start named.

I think the systems were attacked before the discovery was made.

I don't know for sure, but there could be problems also from the East Coast hurricane affecting some networks, hosts or hops?

Techs are looking into it. Servers are up, but there is something else happening. I'll know more in a few minutes.

The hole was discovered by hackers not sysadmins. This means they had x amount of time to do whatever they wanted before anyone even knew about it. I wouldn't be supprized of this ended up being a fairly large hack.

quote:
Please be advised that as of 9:48 PM EST a transformer blew outside the vicinity of WebReseller.Net. There were two more transformer explosions that followed. The backup system kicked in place and was working perfectly until the secondary backup system initialized, which failed as of 1:30 am EST. As of 2:00 am EST we are working on getting the secondary backup system up and running. The transformer failures are due to the hurricane that is currently pounding south eastern PA with very heavy rain and wind gusts up to 70 MPH.

Mine are all down. 5 hours so far.

    Shit happens.

No known reports of weather/power outages in CO, but yesterday was definitely strange. It began with a surge of SoBig emails filling my inbox. That's the first time after several days with no activity. Heck, I thought it was over. Then, as the day progressed my pages began to load slower and slower. Last night a 20 sec. page load took 10 minutes. I gave up on editing and went to ABW and couldn't access anything beyond the home page. Finally, threw up my hands, shut down the computer and slammed down a few brewskis. All is quite and quite normal this morning.

Our sites and servers ran fine all day and night, I was up to 5am working on them, no downtime. Could access ABW find.

Maybe people having problems are all going through the same part of the backbone?

Scary how many DCs don't have properly maintained generators. People call Rackshack (or as it is now called ev1servers, ugh) low rent, but they had 2 fires, zero downtime.

With Verisign/Yahoo/Overture's move to corrupt the internet backbone with their version of Adware all havac has broken loose for .com,.net and .org domains at the DNS level seeking patches and work-arounds. Thanks to Verisign spamm will reach new levels like the floods on the East Coast.

raed all about it at http://abw.infopop.cc/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&...9&m=5036041824
