    UK Affiliate manager shortage?
    Hi there

I work in the UK (London) as an affiliate manager for a gaming site, leading a team of 4, and over here there is an extreme shortage of skilled affiliate managers. There are more jobs than people literally which makes it hard to find good people.

Do you see the same trend in the US?

Mods, please move this thread to the appropriate forum location is this is not the correct place to post this.

    Cheers,
    Jasper

I get asked for recommendations on people in the Salt Lake City area and have a hard time referring. Most of the bigger companies are entrenched and I never meet the AM's.

Maybe it is still a growing industry and I am sure that there is a need for AM with experience..

    Affiliate Manager wannabe!
I am from Italy and I would like to become an Affiliate Manager.

I wonder what would be the roadmap?
    What do you advice?
Do you think working remotely might be possible?

    Thanks in advance,
    Francesco

Your best bet is to get a job as a coordinator under another affiliate manager. Or to find a company that is willing to give you a start then take the network training to understand their interface. You will have to self educate and there are several good books like the one from Geno here. Also, check out some of the affiliates who offer information on how they succeed.

    Chuck,

Thanks very much for the quick and comprehensive reply. Definetively appreciated.

I will look into hunting a job, I believe that you learn more when you practice.

Any suggestion on where to start looking?

Where can I find Geno's book?

    Thanks again,
    Francesco

Francesco, the best source I have found is http://www.indeed.com/. I use it to keep track of changes in the industry. You have to setup your search agent and start with broad searches "affiliate" then narrow with "affiliate manager", "affiliate marketing", etc.

Check the job forum here: http://forum.abestweb.com/forumdisplay.php?f=209

You can use search to find Geno and also check Amazon for other books. Check the authors name versus Google to see how popular they are before purchasing
