    Big Buy Now Buttons
So half in the way of experiment, and half because I'm just odd this way, I'm going to conduct an experiment on the size of the Buy Now button that links to my merchant's product pages.

As of this morning, because I haven't been happy with click through rates on the site in question, I have put a RIDICULOUSLY LARGE WEB 2.0y Buy Now button prominently near the product image.

Looking forward to seeing the results.

(The position of the button wasn't changed)

    Heh. Great question.

IMHO, just big, primarily image driven, rounded edges, etc.

The Web 2.0 part isn't the important part (I don't think), but the size rather.

I like big buttons and I cannot lie.

Let us know how that works out, Kevin. We all crave to know whether, as the spammers would have us believe, big is truly better.

Experiment with the colours as well Kevin. Use a colour that isn't in your template and stands out.

I've heard the following saying before, for designing landing pages: "Make the action button larger than you're comfortable with, and then increase that size by another 50%". Looking forward to hearing the results of this.

Throw in some javascript and make the button follow the mouse cursor around. That's bound to increase clickthrough.

Seriously though, I'm interested in hearing the outcome of this experiment.

We're not going to count today. My merchant lost all their images.... <grumble> so we'll begin the "test" when the images return.

Button has to have video playing inside of it, telling you why you should click it.

Now, that's what I call "Thinking outside the box" good idea!

    How about:

Making the mouse pointer looking like this , and then have the buy button looking like this ?

Then, on that buy button... instead of saying "Click Here to buy now, or Click Here for more info", just put "Click Here to get a bonus" Today!

Well you should conduct several trial sessions and incrementally increase your pixel size by increments to see at what point your "RIDICULOUSLY LARGE WEB 2.0y Buy Now button" attract or scare away your customers.

so, how big is your ..., err.... button?
