I think I want to add a mall site to my portfolio.
Would I be better off with keyword-keyword.com or somecoolname.com ?
I'm leaning towards the branding domain since any keywords I come up with would be rather generic and probably not help much in the serps.

Come up with a catchy name that sticks in someone's memory.
And no dashes - dashes are hard to remember.
And No ambiguity on how to spell it.
Use the keyword name only if you are targeting a very specific audience. Like inflatable-boats.com.
That's my opinion, of course.

I agree with Steve,
a keyword-keyword domain is probably better for a specific target category, and the catchy name is probably a better idea for a mall site, unless of course, by some freak occurance, you can find an available keyword-keyword domain name like "online-shopping.com" .
In that rare event, you might want to go with the keyword-keyword name.
