anyone pick up the 3G iPhone yet?
so i am kicking around the idea of going to get the iphone 3G this week...
The price is finally reasonable, the speed upgrade is a plus and I am a gadget junkie.

    anyone pick one up?

    feedback?.?.?

Unless they move away from at&t exclusivity or my income increases to cover doubling my cell phone bill, I'm going to pass on this one. It's disappointing because it's a great device.

I do plan to pick one up - just need to find the time. I use my iPhone a lot more than I ever imagined I would and am looking forward to G3 speed when I am on the road.

We bought his-and-hers iPhones. We went to the Apple store Saturday morning, waited in line for about an hour, bought our phones, and went home and played with them the rest of the day. No regrets!

    i got the samsung instinct
its so fast that it makes 3g look like a snail going up a slippery hill in a part of the world where the gravatational pull is 10 times the normal rate.

I heard about that one, what network is it on? Been waiting for verizon to step in with a similar one as I heard they do not charge for voice mail calls, cause ATT just does not work for me for few reasons, like charging for calls going straight to voice mail.

    The Instinct is on Sprint.

Am I the only one perturbed by the whole "this phone is only on this network" even when manufacturers span networks? I mean, Samsung has phones on every network, but what, the Instinct is only on Sprint? What's up with that?

I guess I see both sides to it......(doesn't mean i agree with them)

    it sucks for consumers...!!!

but for apple and AT&T its a good business plan... create enough hype and demand and people will pay whatever just to have the product

I wanted something small and portable that would make it easy for me to get online whenever and wherever. The iphone is certainly that. It's a tax deduction for me so I'm not so much worried about the expense but our cell phone bill is going to double and I'm not altogether crazy about that. And the timing couldn't be better as my old cell phone was losing its ability to hold a charge and both our cell phones were pretty beat up. IOW -- we were going to buy new cell phones anyway.

Oh, and I like the fact that if we move out of this area we can continue our phone service uninterrupted.

I have not upgraded it, although I did upgrade my old iPhone to the new 2.0 software. I spoke with a represenative the day it came out and if you bought your iphone on or after May 27th, you could exchange it for the new iphone. Unfortunately, I bought mine a month too early .. grrrr.

One drawback that is keeping me from upgrading is I read somewhere that the dataplans are now higher ... so do I really need it ... NO .. do I want it .. of course! lol.

I have moved from Treo to Blackberry to iPhone and iPhone is my favorite.

Before I stepped into the online world, I use to work for TMobile. Manu's can sell different models of phones to all the networks (each a little different) UNLESS the phone company buys exclusive rights to it. IE, when I was with TMobile, we had exclusive rights to the Black and White Sidekick. When the agreement was about to be over, TMobile signed exclusive rights to the Color Sidekick .. so they are buying their competitive edge (which I am sure is still going on).

Well, as much as I think it rocks!! I gonna pass as well. There are a lot phones out there that are similar and cheaper. Besides, we all know Apple will have a new one out next year.

Yeah, it's pretty clear they intend to work the iPhones the same way they do the iPods - a new generation once or twice a year. It will be interesting to see how that works out for them... aside from Blackberry or maybe Palm (which are really PDAs first, phones second), I can't think of too many instances where people habitually upgrade their phones to new models with that kind of frequency. Phones are usually more like "run it til it dies then get a new whatever". If my Razr dies, I'm not going to automatically get another Razr, you know? I'll look at what else is available.

    3G vs. Touch
My sister and brother in-law both have the touch. They love it. Guess what the only feature is that they wish it had? Yep... the phone capabilities.
