I'm with Drastic. I never go to affiliate directories. Abestweb has all I need. I recommend that you spend the $75 (I think) and do an announcement here.

I never look at affiliate directories, I also suggest a formal announcement here. Take a look at the Top Bar

ABW is an amazing resource for what you need. You should definitely advertise here as you have many experienced Affiliates and new ones alike.

Directories are an important way to get to new Affiliates and help them grow though hard work and effort so there is a value to directories too.

The Search Engines are also an excellent way to attract new Affiliates.

I also recommend the paid advertising at ABW because I, too, never look at aff directories.

BTW, I am an affiliate, not merchant.

While I don't imagine many experienced affiliates go to affiliate directories for programs, you might catch a newer affiliate or two that can have an impact on your program down the line.

Also, don't discount the link/seo benefits of linking to your affiliate program page and company page that you might get from affiliate directories. When users search google for "widget xyz affiliate program" links from those directories can only help

I've gone to affiliate directories maybe half a dozen times over the years. Usually looking for an aff program for a narrow niche the networks don't cover.

Seems like the links & information they offer is often not updated and worthless to me.

looks like although they have some minor impact on affiliates, its not worth it to spend my 10 hr day looking for directories to submit my new affiliate program,
thanks again for all your opinion's

Directories are good for backlinks to your affiliate pitch page. Make sure you have a pitch page that give your affiliate and consumer benefits. It needs to have links to the network or in-house program sign-up information. Also blogs are a great way to put out current program information.

sounds interesting, but are they effective if the site is gambling related?

If you write fresh content on a regular basis its another way to get the word out on your program. Depends on how competitive the keywords are.

Fresh content on a WordPress blog with syndication plugins can get you additional backlinks to your affiliate program. You need to insure that the posts are written for affiliates so you don't get consumers looking for a discount. We have seen that the search engines are giving blogs quick indexing as long as you are not writing spam posts. Setup Google alerts for your keywords and trademark to see how quickly you can get indexed.
