I added TheNerds.net to my automation script that ftp's datafeeds from my SAS merchants and it failed. I even up'd the set_time_limit to some crazy amount and it still failed.
I attempted to download the feed manually and noticed the it's somewhere around 95 megs in size. That's pretty big. Anyone else notice this with TheNerds.net feed and found a way around it?

I've had no problems importing TheNerds.net datafeed. It certainly is a monster-size feed, with 149,641 products in the current feed. Is it possible that your your ISP monitors and deliberately interrupts large downloads (like Comcast finally admitted it does)?
My main complaint about TheNerds.net feed is the number of products with hideously-ugly "image not available" images:
