Firefox Adblock Kills The Editor Kit
I just spent an hour trying to figure out why my editor kit listings weren't displaying. I then tried IE where they displayed fine. Well, seems Adblock had gotten turned on in FF and therein was the problem. Adblock is a common FF plugin, so if your site utilizes EK listings, you should also display regular links to eBay listings in case the visitor uses Adblock.

And BTW, Adblock kills Adsense too...

That's what you get for using a junk browser (FF).

    FF wouldn't make a wart on a real brower's a$$.

Ya ya, main reason I use FF is the built-in spell checking. Problem is, a lot of people use FF, and so goes the demise of many affiliate links...

Firefox is fine, you have to install adblock, it does not come installed.

Honestly, I think it's time to maybe check into a different stats program. I have dozens of sites in all different niches and they are all between 30 and 45 percent Firefox/Mozilla. I'm talking over 2 million pageloads a month, so it's by no means a small sample.

I think it depends on your site demographics.

My largest site has about 81,000 visits month-to-date, constituting just under 700,000 pageviews.

    My breakdown:

    IE: 64%
    Firefox: 29%
    Opera: 4%
    Safari: 2%

At one point, IE had over 90% of the browser market. Over the last few years, IE has steadily been losing market share to Firefox, and it's about friggin' time. MSIE sucks ass.
EPN - Cautiously, but paranoically, optimistic.

98% using IE? I have a hard time believing those are current stats, or your sample size is very, very, very small.

It's been a long time since I've seen anyone extol the value of IE.

    My stats:
    Main hobby site 5000 visitors:
    IE 73%
    FF 18%

a PPC only site 10,000 visitors:
    69% IE
    22% FF

I personally much prefer FF, but run both to make sure sites are looking ok in them. Was not aware about adblock. thanks.

Yea...I thought you were going to say you used something like Flock or a browser I never heard of before.

I haven't used IE in years and I don't see a reason to look back.

Hey BB, increase your traffic by a whopping 40% by making your sites FFF (FireFox Friendly)! Maybe your FF visitors are fleeing before the page loads...

Well I would bet the house it's wrong unless your site gets very few visitors.

Would this apply to BANS stores as well since they use RSS or is it just a EK issue because of java?

I don't know. I don't know if java/javascript has anything to do with it. And I don't know the criteria that AdBlock uses. It somehow is able to detect advertising of various types and prevents them from displaying on the page. If AdBlock thinks an RSS feed is an advertisement it may just block that also.

Wow, seems I don't know anything by the sounds of this post...
