    Unhappy Trapped
Here's a nice Web Virtual Family Topic:

I am "trapped" in some sort of Pornographic forum
Someone registered my gmail address in a pornographic forum and now I get tons of e-mail each day from men who want to have sex with me -- this is not a joke.

Plus every day I get put into tons of user groups:
A moderator or administrator has added you to one or more usergroups on xxx.com.
If that isn't bad enough, I also get solicitations for donations

I have no idea how I've been linked to this XXXforum.
I took a look at the avatar and thank goodness it doesn't look like me but the avatar is quite sexy.

Has this happened to anyone else?

This situation is driving me crazy!
    Does anyone have any advice?

How do I get out of this?

You may have to resort to an email change...

Two possibilities: Go to the logon screen, and say you "forgot your password." It should send you a password reset email like any other forum. Use that to get into "your" account.

    BRANCH 1:
Once you're in, change all the settings to accept no emails. But, you may not be able to stop ones that come from "admin or mods." So if you want the highest chance of removing their ability to email you, proceed to:

    BRANCH 2:

Go into "your" account (once you get the new PW) and change the email-on-file to something else. I would suggest setting up a new Gmail account for this, since sometimes you have to "confirm" a new email address to have the change take effect.

Once you confirm it and the forum software accepts the new address, go over to G and nuke that address. If they haven't had the foresight to keep a record of the original signup addresses, their emails should now bounce.

Neither of these are foolproof, but there's a pretty good chance it will work.

I don't want to do that

I'm hoping if I don't respond they'll leave me alone but I get e-mails like this:

    Congratulations,

A moderator or administrator has added you to one or more usergroups on XXX.com.

You are currently a member of the following usergroups:

    Photo Directory Provider
    Agency
    Providers

    Provider Plus
    Vouch Plus
I also get a lot of these:

    Hello ,

from XXX.com has just sent you a new private message, and you have requested that you be notified on this event.

You can view your new message by clicking on the following link:

    yuck.com
I get messages from men asking me if I am available and is my friend available--dumb stuff like that. The men also tell me: "I am Vouched Client." I'm not sure what that means

    Rhia.

Hmmph. In my shoes you are not just complaining about my area of responsibility, you are in fact complaining about me. {so to speak}.

WOw. Even some admins are dirt bags, point of fact.

OK. Most Amins have a Super Admin boss to report to.Given the fact you are talking about the xxx people, I'm rather uncertain of your getting any positive feed back here, but certainly you can find them and put in a request for removal or request an opt out {they probably don't carry these, but you can look}.

You can report the spam to the feds or to the attorney general. You can tell them that besides being illegal, you are a woman and this shit kinda creeps you out.

File a complaint with their ISP. Time warner likes the bad guys, so results may vary.

Also, you may wish to add a new email addy to your Vcard and use the old one as a catch all till the new addy take hold.

What has happened is in fact an internet crime.. I'm sure it would be a federal offence too if these jokers are doing it to many others. It is similar to identity theft. Its not far off from the dude who just shot his self last week. Except these junkies are Stealing your info to convey their sick habit.

No matter what happens Rhia, don't let it go. If you do, it'll only get worse. That's a fact.

BTW: If the coppers are unsympathetic, tell them this is both about personal security and internet/ your computer safety. I assure you they won't know any different.

It is a good bet you can get their servers confiscated. theres bound to be a slew of crimes committed on them things.

Ask your attorney to send a cease and desist order. Then sue they fat asses, get paid and reset your private info.

    Go get em tiger.

I went to my "hot profile" and I tried to wipe out everything that I could to make "me" as bland as possible -- I hope things will calm down & I will be forgotten.

The forum would not let me change my "username."

I created a new google address plus I changed the password.

I received this e-mail from the porno forum in my new gmail address:

Your account on "XXX.com" has now been activated, you may login using the username and password you received in a previous email.
I thought if I changed the password then the old password would be null?

    How horrible.

In all honesty, since I'm clueless in so many of these kinds of things. I have a "computer guy" who comes to my house and fixes stuff like this. I don't know what he does, but when he's gone the stuff as stopped. His visits usually run about $100. My similarly clueless friends and neighbors told me about him.

this stinks Rhia7. superCool would echo Leader's advice - take over the account and shut it down/update/disable/etc.. as much as you can. now that you have control of the id, have you asked to be removed from the site?

have you thought about how this might have happened? was it a random accident/spam type thing or did someone sign you up on purpose? (malicious, joke, other?) superCool has heard of people signing other people up for magazines etc.. as a prank. hopefully you don't have someone out to mess with you online

if the email comes through the xxx site you could block that site through your spam filter, but if it's from the eager men themselves, then obviously that won't work

another option might be to make some lemonade - some of these guys might not be so bad...

Sorry to hear of your troubles, Rhia7. I hope that you are able to find a way out of it that is quick and painless. I have heard of situations like this before, but have never heard of it actually happening to anyone I "know". Best of luck.
