iPhones make .com, .mobi or .whatever obsolete?
Is it just because I have an iphone and use the apps store for new goodies I see no need the for nor value in a .mobi or other .whatever as a destination or power branding issue anymore, am I alone?

I never saw the value in them, myself. It's always been easy enough using CSS to format your site for mobile visitors, so why do you need a .mobi domain?

    I have a blackberry..

It is hard to read ABW but i do when i am killing time at the mall.

I noticed that two forums that i visit quite often have a .mobi domain and reading that is much easier..

Sooner or later, most phone will be web site compatible.

Probably don't really "need" dot-mobi; but I have one such site that seems to work well for me. So far in August it has had 721 daily page views on 142 average daily visitors. The interesting part is that 48.3% of those are from Nokia, Samsung and Motorola browsers. Only 6.2% from Safari, which may or may not represent iPhone users. Most of the traffic comes from Google, followed by Yahoo and MSN - bringing traffic on 199 different search terms/phrases. Not too bad for three and a half days. No, unfortunately, I have not yet taken the time to put a script on the site to redirect PC users to a "full" version of the site.
