August 5th, 2008, 09:21 AM #1Anyone ever seen Poi?
Aubrey and I went to a large camp out this weekend at a friends retreat and I came home with a new addiction!!
It's called Poi and it's a Hawaiian art. Sort of combines color guard and martial art techniques. I did color guard in High School and Kung Fu for over 7 years in my 20's so it was sort of easy for me to get the basics. Only down fall is when you're learning the Poi balls, which have some weight to keep tension in the chain, hurt like hell when they hit you! I have these huge bruises all over my legs Eventually I'd like to work my up to fire, but it will be a loooooong time before I'm ready for that!

That looks awesome.
I would practice with two small buckets of water.
If they hit you, you just get wet.
Great video too.

That is pretty cool, it reminds me of a show I saw in Tahiti.
Looks like something that takes some considerable practice, good luck!Drastic Tactics - Performance Marketing Since 1998
