    FlamingoWorld is 10 years old!
5 years ago this month I first sat down at my computer and built a joke-humor page, lots of pay per click links. Then I discovered online shopping and the rest is history!

Here is one of the later versions of my joke page:
    http://web.archive.org/web/200003020...om/strange.htm

Looking back, I don't think I could have done this if I had set out to do it on purpose. It started as a hobby just building a website and accidentally turned into something that makes money.

I remember my husband getting real upset at all the time I was spending on the computer. When the checks started coming in he shut up....

Time sure flies when you are having fun!

    Congratulations Connie!

I just celebrated 1 year. Hope I have just a fraction of your success. If I do I will feel that I succeeded in my endeavor.

Congrats Connie! Here's to many more years of success.

Don't you just love strolling down memory lane on the wayback machine? I can set off uncontrollable fits of laughter looking at the first versions of my sites. I should be ashamed I ever put anything up like that, but I'm not. What is really scary is that there were people who turned over their credit card info on a site that looked that way.

Congrats Connie . . . I remember when I first came across your site during the first half of 1999 and I've been using it since for savings on the Internet.

Thanks for all of the money saved over the years.

I love the Way Back Machine! Soo funny looking back and seeing merchants listed that are no longer in business! Brings back many memories.

I think I miss the Pets.com sock puppet the most!

It is truly amazing how a persons life can go from one end of the spectrum to the other in 5 years.

Time flies when you look in the Whois database. Congrats Connie on 5 years of growth and unlike Pet.com you made money at it.

I remember how proud I felt when I took my site from free hosting to my own domain!
I had something that was mine! That is when it first started feeling like I had a real business.

I still have my sock puppet....Poor little guy!

Connie I was there when you started your first coupon email notification (the ones with the little personal blurbs at the bottom about your kids etc.) and used them to save cash To this day if I need a coupon one of the first places I go is to FW.com.

Keep up the great work - the internet appreciates it!!

Congrats, Connie! I still shop through your site--at least when my coupon site doesn't have a particular merchant I'm looking for. Figure someone may as well get a commission, and it may as well be you. Ordered "The Lion King" last night, so I hope Best Buy gets your quarter to you.

    Akiva,
I remember the time after 9-11 when I sent out my email and mentioned that me and Hillary had gone to NYC and visited ground zero.
Got a lot of angry emails from people who didn't want anything to do with me or my site if I was hanging around Hillary Clinton.
Had to send out a quick reply that the Hillary I was referring to was my daughter!

And I remember all the replies I got when I told my members about Dylan having the Chicken pox. They all sent me tips on stopping the itching!

My techie guy had a few days off so I am making him work tonight. He is updating some stuff so that is why you got the error.

Just think of all the people I never would have met if I hadn't started doing FlamingoWorld...Anne, Haiko....OK, is it a good thing??
