    All,

I understand that Reha Kocatas has been private message spamming people (over 35 members) who have posted in either the netMagazines forum or in any topic that had the word magazine in it. I am seriously sorry for the actions of this Spamiferous Leach. instead of being part of the our community he has decided to add no value and only attack those affiliates of his competitors, his actions disgust me and as such I have removed his access rights and will be watching out for his IP.

It is my sincere suggestion that all stay away from uSubscribe and their lecherous Affiliate Manager.

I got that PM, I was annoyed that I was spammed but thought it was sent with ABW's permission. I didn't say anything because of that.

Yep, same thing here. Figured it had ABW's blessing.

Good move Haiko. Doesn't say much for Usubscribe when they have to chase down affiliates through the NetMagazines forum.

I can see the Merriam-Webster Dictionary now:

    Spamiferous
    Main Entry: 1spamiferous
    Pronunciation: 'spam if for us
    Function: pronoun
Etymology: From the ABestWeb.com affiliate marketing board discussing marketing spam tactics in which chanting of the word Spamiferous (for describing Reha Kocatas uSubscribe and their lecherous Affiliate Manager) overrides the other dialogue
    Date: 2003

Definition: unsolicited usually commercial E-mail sent to a large number of addresses, or private forum groups.

Many Thanks Haiko, as I have mentioned before, I (like other AMs) have no problem at all with competitors opening forums on ABW and competing on a fair playing field, I'd love to see more jewelry merchants here , but just using other AMs forums as hunting grounds is well, underhand and truely underminds the reason for ABW to be here.

    Cheers

    To All ABW Members:

We are very sorry that we violated the board’s policies. It was not intentional but rather an honest mistake. "Spam", in our opinion, should be reserved for the world of herbal-Viagra toting fake-header emails that make up over 50% of email sent every day and that we spend hours cleaning out of our in-boxes. While we acknowledge that we inadvertently violated this boards terms of use, we want to be very clear on what we did and correct any misrepresentations being made on these boards.

We are guilty of the following:
    1) We posted an exclusive ABW offer on this board.
    2) We identified 35 Members (out of 10,000) by searching for historical posts of members that had demonstrated interest in other magazine subscription affiliate programs.
    3) We contacted those 35 via a private message board as we felt they might be interested.

This form of contact was specifically focused and sought to engage in a community based dialog about our program and to introduce our program to perspective affiliates. We were not "poaching" affiliates as the members on this board are intelligent enough to determine for themselves what works and what doesn't

In response to Haiko's post "It is my sincere suggestion that all stay away from uSubscribe and their lecherous Affiliate Manager."….

If this opinion is based wholly on the current issue, then it is very shortsighted. Despite the minor mistake made on this board we still (Scott is invited to verify any of the below):

    - Paid out over $45,000 in commissions last month
    - Have only a 3% return rate for the year-to-date
    - Are a beFree Aclaim partner that means we
    * In good standing with Be Free
    * Timely monthly payment to affiliates
    * Transferring accurate and timely order file data
    * No negative retroactive compensation changes
    * Posting contact information and responding to affiliate inquiries within five business days
    - have over 6500 affiliate sites in our network
    - had over 140 affiliates that had a sale last month
    - had over 500,000 visitors from our network last month
    - had over 7 affiliates that earn more then $1,000 last month
    - have over 55 affiliates receiving a check this month.($50 Minimum)

Haiko invited us to reply to his "Spamiferous Leach" post but locked out our account so now we have violated this board's policies for a second time by signing up with an alternate alias in order to post this apology and to defend our name.

    Sorry again...

    Sincerely,

    Lecherous Affiliate Manager

oooh, pet peeve of mine. If you can't read the entire TOS when signing up AND use some common sense when posting/PM'ing don't blame the board owner for not holding your hand

This is one of the exact reasons why I have PM restrictions at my board - got tired of the spam and the spammers who said it was my fault for not clearly saying no a million times.

    Nova - Mrs Happymoon :

After reading the posts on this board and better educating ourselves on "Parasites" we are reviewing our affiliates and removing those falling into that category. We should be "free" by the end of the week.

If PPMerchant means that we have a Performance Partner program then the answer is yes.

I'm grumpy and grouchy tonight, so I just have to respond to this.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>"Spam", in our opinion, should be reserved for the world of herbal-Viagra toting fake-header emails that make up over 50% of email sent every day and that we spend hours cleaning out of our in-boxes. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Not sure if that meant viagra spam is ok or that the word "spam" should be reserved for viagra email. Either way In case you haven't noticed, this is a message board and email has nothing to do with the issue at hand.

Spam is unsolicited communications for a commercial purpose. Which is what you did. If you had spent a bit more time learning the board, you would have known that this is NOT a community that tolerate such actions. You can see that from the responses of the members you spammed. This community is about learning and opportunities yes, but it also about giving back to the community. Not just leeching off of it. Which is exactly what you did. You basically wanted all the benefits a merchant receives by having a forum here, but didn't want to pay for it like they do. You even did searches and leeched off of the work and efforts of those merchants who do contribute here.

Now for your bulleted list. You expect the red carpet rolled out for you because you make timely monthly payments, are in good standing with BF, post contact info, answer affiliate inquiries???? What the heck is that all about????? That is exactly what you supposed to be doing! It's the contractural agreement you've entered into via your TOS with affiliates. It's a business partnership between yourself and affiliates. Geez Louise!!!!!!

Now looking at at those figures you've thrown out.

$45.000 paid in commissions last month
7 affiliates over $1000 (that equals a min of $7k of the $45k total)
55 affiliates getting at least $50 (subtract the 7 who are over $1k, that leaves 48 affiliates)

Now I'm sure of those 48 affs, there are many who just made their minimum for payout. You've also just admitted that you have parasites in your program. Hmmm..wonder if those fall into the 7 who earned over $1k. Well, folks can just put the pieces together for themselves......

Go leech somewhere else. If you want some suggestions of places you can do this I'll be happy to foward the information to you.

I'm off to go work on my NetMagazine links now. See Reha, not everyone with an interest posts about it openly here. That's the advantage utilitzing the board as it's supposed to be.

BTW Haiko, just love all those new graemlins you have. You sure found some appropriate ones.

It's Your Money. You earned it. What are you going to do to make sure you get to keep it?

Wow. That's a lot of anger and I'm sure that's only the tip of the iceberg...

For what it's worth, although it seems you guys have a zero tolerance attitude (actually a overpowering duke 'em and nuke 'em style zero tolerance policy ), I'll put in my $0.02 here.

I am one of the uSubscribe affiliates, and have found Reha's company as one of the top companies to deal with. They pay on time, they pay what they say they'll pay, they are very responsive to any issues you bring up and suggest, they have a competitive product, they're policies are consumer-oriented (like no-auto renewing subscriptions which annoys cusomters to no-end)...basically, they do everything the merchant is supposed to do on their part.

I'm sure you guys can create lists with your eyes closed of affiliate programs that suck...ones that don't treat affiliates well. uSubscribe is not one of them, in my opinion. But here, you've got a merchant that is asking humbly to reconsider the status you've given him. He's willing to apologize, make good on his errors, and willing to become a contributing member of your community (which is great! BTW)

Sure, it's probably worth kicking him around a little, but after you guys are done with it, I believe this one is worth keeping around.

Oh, I just LOVE this one!

Oops, they didn't know that what they were doing was ming. It was an (unsolicited) exclusive ABW offer posted on the board, then sent to 35 members by PM. If the posted offer were that great, it seems PMs would be unnecessary. Uh, OK...

Then they get their account closed for breaking the rules, which they weren't aware of, due to the fact that every single possibility wasn't listed ad nauseum. Right.

Then they INTENTIONALLY break the rules AGAIN to post an "apology" under a new name!

No way would I ever do business with a company with such poor ethics.

    Andy

I think the real violation that really started this is that Reha did not notify Haiko beforehand. So that his message can be put into its proper perspective and not be defined as spam.

If I remember correctly, it was uSubscribe who ran a bot, sometime ago, to identify former affiliates of that Barnes & Noble Magazine merchant, and emailed the former affiliates to persuade them to come over to their side. spamerous? maybe. but I'm not offended. heck I'm more offended by merchants sending me rejection or removal notices. but for merchants going out of their way to let me in, I bring out the red carpet.

But! I do not promote uSubscribe. Not a link in my website. One look at their front page and that "order by phone" at the upper right corner is enough to get me moving.
