And of course the SPAM WHICH I DID NOT REQUEST was sent to me from a stupid free yahoo email account. I HATE THESE PEOPLE!

Why do they think it is okay to collect that data and sell it? It sounds like it is not even goclick of 7search doing it.

Someone who knows how put a DOS attack on this list broker's domain. Scraping PPC bidder sites and e-mails addresses by the above mentioned Ad Whore traffic brokers show the seedy side of the DMA is getting desperate. Wack goes the e-mail industry -wack goes the popup/under Ad wanks -pop goes the BHO's drive-by installs and the Telemarketers have their client base and market wacked in half.

About time we see some serious butt kissing going out to the domain bound value-add affiliates. Only they have a consistant ability to filter targeted shoppers and motivate them to irnor the "white noise" and just trust the value at the end of the click.

    According to goclick's privacy policy:

Other Companies' Access to Your Personal Information does not sell, rent or trade user information to other companies. Our site may link to advertisers and sites that collect personally identifiable information about you when you access them from This type of collection or use of personal information is beyond's control and is not covered by this Privacy Policy.

    So unless that changed....

Probably harvested from those bidding in those engines. Harvesting and selling information is big business for some. Very unethical and needs to have some kind of effective solution.

I hate these spammers myself with passion.

    Here is one.

Wonder how many people are gullible enough to fall for this stuff.

Spam making its way in my inbox. The subject line is the way it reads (you instead of your)

    <font color=red size="4">
    Important notice

We have just charged your credit card for money laundry service in amount of $234.65 (because you are either child pornography webmaster or deal with dirty money, which require us to layndry them and then send to your checking account).
If you feel this transaction was made by our mistake, please press "No".
If you confirm this transaction, please press "Yes" and fill in the form below.

(then there is a form to enter your CC info and submit)

Got them all. The "database" spam is pure BS, they've targeted everyone from DMOZ to Overture and there's no breach of confidentiality.

The "laundering" one, I'm pretty certain that this is a "joe job" against who aren't actually reponsible for the spam.

My favorite is who still keep spamming me despite a very public and high profile page I run explaining the scam.

The same email was sent to me regarding google directory database. The first thing I did was send it to google and they responded within 3 hours! I never checked if they were listed in google, only after their reply, but they sure aren't listed in google now.

I was very impressed with the email I received from google - it was fast and and they took the time to write. As opposed to yahoo whom I alerted once about a scam email running in their company name - never got a reply, but I did get two stupid automated emails telling me to send the email somewhere else. Needless to say, I will never bother sending emails to yahoo...
