Sorry Mike - I hope Charlie does not take offense at my generic use of the word parrot in this expression

Mods - feel free to change parrot to p@rrot if you think it will offend certain groups.

OK, apologies done. On to my post.

You know when someone posts that their hard drive crashed and they lost everything and they did not have current backups?

Well my hard drive crashed and I did not have current backups. Lost a lot of stuff. re-installing stuff now. Really strange as my coputer would boot after the crash, but the windows screen was just blank. Trying to boot to the A drive and then going over to C to save the stuf before the reformat did not work. Drive C was not visible and could not be logged on to. Really wierd. Maybe it was a virus? Who knows. Anyway, learn from my mistake - backup your work. I have lost datafeed templates for about 10 merchants. A lot of work coming up this week trying to just restore my computer to a workable machine.

Important e-mails and business invoices lost.

Web sites need to be downloaded - all 70+ of them.

I need copious amounts of alcohol to get through this.

BACK UP YOUR DAMN DATA BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.

Sorry to hear that PerfectG. I had soemthing very similiar happen once. Had a corrupted boot file or sector or something. Thankfully I was able to get into DOS and see all my files there and do a copy of everything before doing the reformat.

Hope you are up and running at full speed again soon. And yep, backup that stuff. I'm bad myself about not doing that.

Had something similar happen before, too. Thus, learned a very valuable lesson - GET A EXTERNAL H.D. They are the perfect instrument for backing up your work quickly and regularly.

The GreatLakes version Parrot chewed through the USB external backup drive cable several months ago. Thank God on my monthly backup (should be weekly) I discovered the break. Real PITA to lose your HD as the data is more valuable then the whole system after 6 months or work.

Well what do you know. Re-installed everything after a format of the offending drive and everything seemed OK, for 30 minutes. Bang, Crash & then tears.

The hard disk has gone back to the shop after only 3 months use. Hopefully they will find it beyond repair (never really trust a fixed hard disk), and give me a new one. In the mean time, I have bought a new one and am re-installing.

I am not looking forward to seeing exactly what I had not backed up.

I need some parrot poop keyboard covers. Does Pets-warehouse see these?
