    Lightbulb Affiliate Marketing Definition - VOTE!!
    Over the past two weeks we've had 36 definitions of "affiliate marketing" posted in this thread. I thank everyone who has posted their definitions, and thank you, Haiko, for letting me run the voting in the "Voting Booth" section of ABW.

    I have not included the following three definitions in the above poll:

    • "We sell stuff we don't own to people we don't know"
    • "Making money in your underwear"
    • and Travis' definition quoted by bredies

    The first two were not included due to the fact that their authorship is hard to pinpoint (whereas the latter one is essentially a quote), and in case they win, I simply would not know who to award the prize to.

    Above you will find the other 33 definitions: ranging from serious to humorous, from proze to poetry. Some of them did not fit into the "poll entry" field in their entirety. For such definitions I've included a "full text" link.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    IMPORTANT:
    1) You may vote to multiple entries. So please pick all of the ones you find interesting before hitting that "Vote Now" button. Once the button is hit, there is no way to add votes to other other entries.
    2) The voting will close a week from now, or on Monday, 25 August at 12:10 pm EST.
    3) We have a prize fund of $845+ at stake which will be split between 5 winners [full details here]
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Happy voting, and thanks again, everyone who has chosen to participate.

    Geno, thanks for italicizing my entry. Perhaps that will boost my votes.

    I must protest the misprint omitting the "A" at the beginning of my definition though.

    It's the entries that you have voted for that show as italicized.

    How exactly does omitting the "A" change anything?

    Thanks for the great contest. I didn't contribute a definition but I enjoyed casting my votes.

    I must say I that I like the originality of Mr. Sal's Affiliate Poem

    {I voted for some others too but Mr. Sal's poem is my favorite entry to this contest }

    To be totally honest, I thought most of the "definitions" were rather flippant. Maybe the nature of the contest was asking for that, and I missed something. If so, my apologies.

    I did vote for one definition (which is tied for 2nd at this point) and then saw the leading response was just another flippant one.

    Did I miss something here? I thought you were asking for a serious definition of affiliate marketing....or maybe most of the answers were lost on me.

    Jim,

    My english may not be perfect, but when I saw you mention the flippant word, I search for it.

    Adgetive: flippant

    I don't know if that's the case. Certainly many of them were written in a light hearted manner. But the leaders in the poll seem to be fairly serious entries, with the exception of the one Mr. Sal did which takes a more 'creative' approach. The top 5 or 6 vote getters seem to be pretty decent explanations to me.

    Also Geno did ask in this post
    What is it for you? Is it the "hardest money you've ever made" (as missdonna puts it), or is it the freedom to w*rk the way you want to, and at the time of the day/night/week you choose?
    which opens the contest up to those light hearted responses.

    Ok, since the campaigning has begun...

    Read carefully and select the entry that most completely defines the subject.
