At the risk of dating ourselves here.
Which CD did you bring to test Stereo Equipment ?

My arsenal included
Dire Straits "Brothers in Arms"
Steely Dan "Aja"
Van Halen "Van Halen"

I read in Car Audio and Electronics about 7 years ago that Steely Dan's "Aja" was used by salespeople to push $100 speakers out the door. It's recorded so well that it sounds awesome on even the cheapest of speakers.

Consistency is the key to a winning season.

Weird.

I was thinking about the subject line while readin gother posts, and Steely Dan was the first I'd thought of, but hadn't decided on an actual album. Yes, Aja would definitely be a good choice.

The other one that popped into my head was PF - DSOTM.

And maybe something with lots of low end for when a bunch of people decide to use your warehouse for a party. Chemical Brothers, maybe. :^)

Took a new vehicle for a weekend test drive a few weeks ago and rotated Five Iron Frenzy's "Upbeats and Beatdowns" with Jennifer Knapp's "Lay It Down" and Jean-Luc Ponty's "Individual Choice." After all, isn't the sound system the reason you buy a new vehicle?

If you want to buy a Car Stereo system with a car build around it you should try out the Nissan Murano, I took it for a testdrive and the Bose system is excellent, pity about the boot space.

Cool ...

Music

Funny thing was I was going to post a question about how people like to reward themself for achieving goals and all.

One of my lastest (I have had several) little rewards was nice $1,000 stereo for my offic. I love music and listen to so many different types of music.

Steely Dan ... just purchased there best of album... great stuff.

Right now in the 5 disc changer:

Lucinda Williams
Sade
Rod Steward
T-Bone Walker
Tom Petty

Love my music, today is Tuesday New Music Release Day

On my list to purchase is:

Clay aken (that second place american idol guy)
and Cassandra Wilson

Cheers,

Brian Johnson

Nope, it's the first thing you replace in a new vehicle.

I never answered the question: if you want to test bass, get the 1994 Dorian recording of Jongen and Saint-Saens Organ Symphonies. 16hz is awesome. I used to make my steering wheel vibrate up and down with that disc. High school kids with cheap equipment smelled ozone while playing that disc.

I should also point out Telarc's "Great Fantasy Adventure". The last track is called "Jurassic Lunch", which is a T-Rex walking through the woods, roars, chomps down on something, swallows and burps. There's some of the best recordings of popular movie music on that disc, too.

But the best is Telarc's "The Big Picture". Track 6 is a recording of a launch of Space Shuttle Discovery mixed with the actual conversation recording between Houston and Apollo 13, giving you the sensation that you're being launched into space along side the astronauts. It ends with "Houston we've got a problem" and segues into the end title music from the movie.

Swampy:

Yup. Just saw them for the last time a few weeks ago. Very sad that they're disbanding, but lots of great memories (and CDs).

My ode to their last show can be read here

White Zombie

My first major purchase as an adult was a Huge Stereo System!
When I popped in Zombie - Thunder Kiss 65 and cranked the Volume to -10dB, I knew we were meant to be together ...
I had to borrow my roommates truck to get it home
