PC does not see Link Share links
    Hi guys,

I have my Web Site weddingringspro.org
that affiliates with Mondera through Link Share network.

I placed on my Home page Text & Products Links and Banners.
But my second PC does not see ALL above links.
The second PC uses IE7.0 and Norton Internet Security.

My first PC uses IE6, Zone Alarm and Avira AntiVir and
    can see ALL above links.

Could somebody tell me what problem is with my second PC ?

    regards

    Dan

Why do I feel like this post is spam? First post...dropping website URL in first line....asking a question that no one here can reasonably answer......

I do not send any spam - I just ask reasonable question.
If I will not write my URL nobody can see my Home page
with links that I cannot see.

The problem with the computer is Norton Internet Security. Get rid of it and install eset .com on it instead. It's a great program. I use it on my computer and had never had any problems with the computer getting junk it shouldn't get and it does not block affiliate links.

My computer has IE7.0 and I can see all of your links and they work just fine.

You have a nice looking site...

Norton Internet Security use lots of people
that can come to my Site.
If they do not see my Links my Web Site
with affiliate links are useless !

I cannot tell all of them to use another software.

Maybe Mondera and Link Share should correct
their link's code for Norton Internet Security
    to not block my Links

    What do you think ?

Neither Mondera nor Linkshare can control what unrelated computer software does. While Norton Internet Security used to block affiliate links, I think they stopped doing so when they started their own affiliate program on Commission Junction last year. Talk about hypocrites!

You've probably got something else on your computer blocking those links.

Maybe it isn't even Norton, it's the default settings of IE7 on Vista. I left the default settings on my laptop's IE7 browser to see what a 'technically challenged' person would see and it does the same with Amazon's links. You can't see the images just blank spaces. The laptop is running ESET, not Norton. IE7's little security warning says it has to do with the originating site's lack of a p3p privacy policy. (?!) Most experienced users will adjust their settings but who knows what % of clueless users there are?

I used Norton Security up until about 2 years ago. It never blocked my affiliate links back then.

Well, there is plenty of documentation on ABW of it doing so.

Oh, I'm not doubting that, Snowman. I've seen other software "blamed" for things in the past as well, just to find out later it was something else. I'm just saying Norton never blocked my affiliate links back then.

    To ALL of you !

I have disabled Norton Internet Security now
and CAN see ALL affiliate links for
Mondera and Blue Nile that use Link Share network!

That means there is problem in Link Share network
because Norton Internet Security does not block
my affiliate links for Diamond.com that
    uses Commission Junction network.

    I repeat:
Lots of people using Norton Internet Security
(with default settings) can come to my Site.
If they do not see my Affiliate Links then my Web Site
with affiliate links (through Link Share network) are useless !

    What do you think?

    Back in June 6th, 2005:

Yes, were aware that Norton can block LinkShare links.Source

I know we're attempting to resolve this issue with the Norton, but suggest you contact them too.Source
As I said in my panel on Ethics in AM, software is ethical, and black and white, they [Linkshare in this case] allow for bad actions and players to whore out the codes so companies like Norton block them. The answer now 3 years later is obvious ... sign another co and block CJ links and for a kicker ... support and push for the change affiliate marketing's name to performance marketing because of the bad rep the industry has because of all the opportunistic turn a blind eye MFers.

All the while cos like Linkshare experience up to a 45% tracking loss and we the affiliates are the victims because we are sending our traffic virtually for free and when we do speak up we are told to be complacent or worse ... they divide us to maintain their illusion of industry changes happening ... it ain't it's the same shit, just a different smell - it's perfume covered shit, but now with a new name - performance marketing.

The real solution ... demand the networks fix this, and when you see they don't, then go to networks like Shareasale, Avantlink, buy.at and AffiliateFuture who aren't blocked and you'll see a considerable increase 30%+ in conversions and earnings ... stop doing free branding for thieves and facilitators of thieves and get the money you actually earned.
    Continued Success,

That's why I probably never had the problem in the past. I always stayed away from the Networks in favor of independent affiliate programs.

    Hi Haiko

I believe If LinkShare did not fix that problem from 2005
then they will never do it.
I talked with Affiliate manager Harry (from Mondera)
concerning that and it looks like he hears this the first time.

Your "The real solution.. then go to other networks.. " is the best advice for me.

    Thank you

    Dan

    Hi Jim,

    I do not understand you:

    First you wrote:
"I used Norton Security up until about 2 years ago.
It never blocked my affiliate links back then."

    And then your wrote:
"That's why I probably never had the problem in the past. I always stayed away from the Networks in favor of independent affiliate programs."

    Could you explain?

I was on a computer last week with Norton Internet Security (I never used Norton) and 50% of my banners were blocked, however feed images were ok. I was going to post here to see what people are doing about this on sites where they do use banners. I was thinks I should place the banners on my own site?? But was not sure if that was permitted??

Unless there is a language problem here, I am understanding you to mean that the problem is when using Norton and Linkshare.

Since I never used Networks, I never had this problem while I was using Norton. My affiliate links always always appeared with no problem.

Easy there dan77, there is obviously a language issue but he wasn't insulting you.

Read what he wrote, he said he never used LS but had Norton and all other links showed. That is what he said.

    ----------
    kse,

Yes host the images yourself. Also change the size to 467X59 or other sizes as applicable by 1 pixel. This can ensure the banner shows but the problem is the 1X1 showing in the cart ... if that is blocked then what good does a banner or link showing actually do? KWIM?
