Thumbs up Toyota.me Sell $90,025 -Godaddy has world record .me sales!
It's All About .ME Now - the new hot domain names

During the landrush period in June people attempted to register their very own .me domain name. At the same time however, many missed out on the rush because of a lack of knowledge of the DOT .ME landrush event. For people that paid the requisite $99.98 during the short landrush registration period in June and found themselves applying for the same .me domains, there is now a auction opportunity to really put their money where their mouth is in order to make sure they get the .me domain name they wanted.

Even though the overall number of people now allowed bidding on the current landrush auctions is small, the demand is very high and that translates into big bucks for some of the domain names. One thing's for sure; .me domain names are all the rage right now and are definitely here to stay.

So, is the new DOT .ME domain name going to be the one to have? on July 17, 2008. DOT .ME domains became open to all, and with no restrictions.

During these first two days (July 17 and Juy18) the .ME registration broke records and that is definitely something that speaks for itself.

GoDaddy.com processed over 20,000 domain names! in the first 24 hours of registration which is definitely a record for them.

According to sources speaking on behalf of the internet giant GoDaddy.com, "...there have never been more registrations handled in one day during the ordinary course of businesses by any registrar in history."

The "big boys" like Apple are getting into the "me" attitude with their me.com domain name as well as registrations for apple.me and itunes.me. Many of the other large corporations of the world are rumored to be involved in similar deals and many have aalready turned those pieces of idle speculation into reality with large .me domain name purchases.

Most of the heated .me bidding is likely to take place in September, when all people will get the chance to bid on auctions for premium .me domain names. There is almost no doubt that many of the records set in the current virtual real estate rush will be broken again in a month's time when many of the larger bids are expected to be placed.

Many of the current landrush auctions are still going on at

Many landrush auctions are over however, with the following winning bids of note:

    Domain Name Current Price Bids
    toyota.me $90,025 110
    insure.me $68,005 278
    oglasi.me $40,034 82

    entertain.me $7,710 128
    bless.me $7,705 127
    vegas.me $7,695 38

The new domain .ME domain also provides firms with a unique marketing.

The internet appears to be poised on the edge of another evolutionary leap and everyone seems to be jumping on the bandwagon. It shouldn’t be too long before you see these types of names appearing all over the internet on the major sites of the future.

I for sure am on the .me bandwagon.

Why the BurgerBoy? That hotdomains5 posted well thought out, practical, non-hyped post about an extension no one has heard of or used and did so by using a trademark protected word in his title. Why would there be a conversation to watch?

He edited out the link himself, I think it really is brand marketing and hype because of the of lack of interest in the .me tld so yes, this really appears to be hype for the .me extension and possible tag team set up spam.

As for the registration of a TM - the buyer could have been a Toyota dealer in ME or Toyota in the Middle East - page is parked still (bought early this month) registrant is in Brazil but that could be a broker.

So I say as well as Chetf and BurgerBoy.

    It's making some people money - https://auctions.domain.me/recentSales.aspx

Click on Current Price to sort it.

Does anybody know where those domains are up for sale, at the site I just linked too? Those seem to have a lot of bids. I have some I want to sell.

Trust - the phone number listed at the bottom of the page, 1-480-366-3505 is in Arizona. Since GoDaddy is in Scottsdale (same area code) I'd bet they are behind it. Though I don't know why they wouldn't put the names on tdnam.com

No it is not a spam post.

Yes i have buy some .me domains and for good reasons
If you look at the auction now running and the .me domains sold, only few where allowed to bid and prices are still real good.

If you have not yet hear about .me yet you for sure will soon
The "big boys" like Apple are getting into the "me" attitude with their me.com domain name as well as registrations for apple.me and itunes.me

Plus godaddy had world record sales of the .me domain and have moved .me up just under .com in the big drop down menu and over info, mobil, org, net.

It will be very interesting see what prices the premium .me domains will go for in September where everybody will be able to bid - i think we could see some 7 number prices.

    Time will tell

You had to pay a fee (under $100) to be part of the land rush portion of the launch. You can't bid on nor sell in this premium auction unless you had paid the fee. No you can't pay the fee now and bid or sell - I asked the second day of the auction process.

After more diligence we see that Toyota.me had 110 bids, that could be 2 bidders with 55 bids or 50 or more actual bidders ... we'll never know, so it's just hype and illegal unless it was a real TM owner or licensee bidding. I still think this whole .me is a FLOP and they [GoDaddy] are pimping and spamming [this thread and many others like it] across the web to create a viral marketing thrust saying .me is the next .com but in actuality it's a .bomb.

He specifically left out the link in the first posting for two reasons: 1) he wouldn't be banned, and 2) it would force anyone who cared to search and in that search process they'd see more and more hype. Like the old saying goes ... "it's written on the internet so it's true" so it would be a convincing argument to say holy sh!t, these domains ARE moving, let me register some. It's called whisper marketing and we are targets as affiliates are major domain purchasers and actually have money to waste oops I mean "speculate".

As for proving .me is truly la.me please read our thread during the opening day -> http://forum.abestweb.com/showthread...&highlight=.me

In fact there were numerous complaints and non-favorable reports on the .me experience all across the web and because only a few registrations with in the .me TLD make sense or are attractive, they need to inject positive PR into the dead TLD and the only way to do that is to build hype on the GREED aspect, if it appears that a .me can sell for 6 or seven figures, sh!t who wouldn't waste the $20 per year to speculate ... but trust me, the TLD is a waste of time.

BTW, For the record, Godaddy is the partner in the .me registry so of course they will bump up the .me on their site, it's a hemorrhaging cow, that was supposed to be a cash cow, thus the impetus in this and the other marketing efforts offered by these posters who don't drop links ... but sentiments ... I wonder how many more suckers bought more .me domains because of this dis-information.

Am I going to have to change where I point naive.me ?

The .me auction currently running is NOt the .me premium auction.
The premium auction for .me is fist in September where everybody will be able to bid.

The Current .me auction running is the Landrush auction
But your right that only the peaple that had paid a fee ($99.98) in june can bid on land rush portion now, and only on that domain they paid the $99.98 for - and thats also one of the reason the prices we are seing now are so impressive when so few are allowed to bid now.

Look at these prices again from the Landrush auction:

    toyota.me $90,025 110
    insure.me $68,005 278
    oglasi.me $40,034 82
    only.me $33,405 63
    aweso.me $24,189 67
    skoda.me $20,010 76

Now to back up what i said look at these news articles:

    >>>The operational body responsible for the .me top-level domain, announced on Monday it has seen a "Super Bowl-like" spike in traffic and domain registrations since .me became available to the general public on July 17.<< http://www.thewhir.com/marketwatch/0...s_Go_Daddy.cfm

More than 100 registrars currently offer .ME domains through their registration platform. .ME has seen its greatest interest among English speaking countries including the United States (71%), the United Kingdom (6%), Canada (4%), and Australia (2%).

I am sure we will see some premium .me domains go for over 7-figure in september.

It sure looks to me like .me is already a huge succes.

Whoever bought toyota.me has got to be very careful. Just visit nissan.com read the story and you will see what i mean. I myself recently received a C&D on a long domain with a company name in it.

Something just doesn't smell right with this domain auction.

A lot of registrars have misled people in the past into thinking that ccTLDs like .ws (Western Samoa) stood for Web Site and .tv (Tuvalu) meant TeleVision. Why would they not mislead people about the popularity (or lack of popularity) for the .me domains?

I would also think that any internationally registered trademarks would be removed from the auction list. It is too big of a risk for someone to register a domain that could easily be taken form them by the trademark holder.
There's good, fast and cheap. Pick any two.

I think it is a little far fetched to believe that .me will be worth a huge pile of money, ever. If you like making your money fifty or a hundred at a time, maybe. Good luck finding the liquidity on them though. There are way more sellers than buyers and I anticipate it will stay that way for the following reason:

What's next? .you, .him, .her, .who? Too many possibilities still up their sleeves.
