August 25th, 2008, 12:49 PM #1How to Follow Up with Merchants
It has been about 2 weeks since the sample documents were released. That is enough time for merchants to at least start to review reinstating NY affiliates. I am now beginning to follow up with merchants from this forum and those I met at Summit. I am also following up with merchants who dropped me. All NY affiliates can help speed the process of reinstating by doing the same.
Here are the steps you can take:
1. email all merchants who dropped you advising them about the sample documents.
2. Reapply to all merchants who dropped you. If you get a rejection send them an email with the information.
3. If you have spoken to any merchants follow up with them to see if there is an update.
4. Be sure merchant/OPM/AM knows that sample documents are available and that similar documents made it possible for other merchants to renew partnering with NY affiliates.
It is critical that we all step up and take these steps. The solution is easy to implement, tell merchants to look at the example of Kim of 4checks.
If merchant needs the name of NY tax attorney we will gladly share the name and contact info.It would be a very wothwhile investment for the merchant.
Merchants need to hear from affiliates that we want to work with them.
There is no harm in contacting merchants!
Either post updates as you get them or if you don't want to do so send them to me via email/pm and I'll post them.
There are hundreds of merchants who terminated NY affiliates, there is no way only a couple of us can contact them all. All NY affiliates should be involved right now in contacting merchants who terminated them.

I find it interesting that there is no prohibition of NY-based affiliates in the CafePress TOS.
So I re-applied. However, now I'm under review. Let's see what happens.

Most merchants have not added it to their TOS, even those that sent an email indicating they aren't working with NY affiliates.
Very important that affiliates follow up with merchants, otherwise the issue gets put on a back burner.

and I was almost immediately accepted into the CafePress program . . . so far, so good . . .
except: the Advertiser Detail still shows
Description: Note: At this time, we are unable to partner with affiliates residing in the State of New York.
so I'm gonna have to ask them some questions . . .

Just so it's clear to anyone reading this - CafePress does not currently partner with NY affiliates although Steve is working on the issue.
