I'm not sure just where this post should go. So, if one of the mods would move it to the correct forum, I will be grateful.

I have a new site. Low PR, not much traffic yet. Main page has been googlized, most of the sales pages have not.

I would like to get some good traffic to my sales pages.

What are your suggestions? Specifics would be helpful.

    Thanks,
    Frank

Google Adwords, good way to get some quick, good traffic. Also good for testing out merchants (like indys) you're not sure of rather quickly. Edited to add, the better you target your ads, the better your traffic will be.

A second suggestion would be to optimise the sales pages then stick 'em in Inktomi paid inclusion.

I'll second the Inktomi submission. It's a controlled cost.

Adsense can produce great results but can also spin out of control if you are not careful.

    Thanks for those suggestions.

What about the exactseek paid inclusion? $12 each URL for three months. Any experience with this outfit?

Frank ... ExactSeek (Jayde Online Inc.) is an affiliated content partner of ours and they are rising up in popularity fast. They just signed a ranking deal with Alexa .. so that gives you an idea on their credibility.

    Hey Frank,

I am also in the camp of seo, that being work on getting your pages optimized to show up for certain searches.

I would personally not spend a dime for several months. Get a bit of "seed capital" coming in and then reinvest that if you like or pocket it.

Once your making a few hundred bucks a month it is a lot easier to test ppc, think about paid inclusion or whatever.

Money get's spent like lightning if your not careful.

I did not really start spending money on advertising for quite a long time. Once bills are paid off, cars are paid off and you have been to Mexico then play with advertising ;-)

That is my take on it anyway ...

    Cheers,

Thanks Brian (the 'chef' part reminds me of a US Navy cook I shipped with).

I have all of the pages optimized as well as I know how to at my current stage.

I have done the 'spend too much for advertising' trick before. Too many times!

What I would like to do is get some traffic/sales kicked in before the holidays really get started. I have spent a lot longer getting pages up and link requests going than I thought would it would take. It is time for the cash register to register.
