what a poor way of giving out info, i read the comic i got bored around page 10

they tried to make it flashy by putting a comic book together but it's boring as hell to read and looks shitty imo. not sure when it will be released probably tomorrow.

I predict 90% of you will probably not use it and knowing google, it will contain plugins and someway to make money with search and lure people away from affiliate sites to their price comparison engine

I don't think getting people to their price comparison engine, Google Product Search, the former Froogle, ever really caught on. Plus I don't think they really make money with it since merchants can submit for free, unlike say a Yahoo where merchants have to pay. With how many people use Google, if linking to it from Google didn't work, not sure this is going to. Neverending beta and not as good as the other ones out there.

We'll see what the deal is once people have a chance to play with it. It's getting picked up. I now see it on the homepage of MSN and on the front page of the Wall Street Journal, 2 articles down from the hurricane coverage.

I don't think we needed another browser. Firefox works just fine.

Just another way to push the google toolbar (no thanks) and the google desktop (no thanks).

Just because it's google doesn't mean it's any good.

Do you imagine how big discs they have. Google has all my data through: google history, google analytics, toolbar, cookies. Where do they store it?

Lure people away from affiliate sites? Thought they just bought an affiliate network.....

I happen to like Safari and Firefox as well, but I'm always willing to try new browsers from "trusted" sources as they become available.

It's simple alright. Almost like a beta from other companies and certainly not all the cool features like on firefox.

It reminds me of the first safari browser, and how Apple's intent was to make a browser that would work only on the iphone (their browser of course).

Could it be that Chrome will be the default browser on the new google (android) phone?

I would love to be able to make the incognito mode permanent. It would make the browser worth more.

From the Google Tos for the browser
"By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any content which you submit, post or display on or through, the services. This license is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the services and may be revoked for certain services as defined in the additional terms of those services."

Why is that in the TOS of the browser? Is the browser a Service if it is if me posting right now via Chrome to this site give them the right to use this post for what ever they like?

I am a bit confused as to why its in the TOS.

Also who gets the feeling this browser will have ADS in it.

Alot of you except naked gamer probably dislike incognito mode, as a lot of you were upset with the same feature in IE 8.

You better believe it's going to have ads. I'm using gmail for one of my emails and their are ads all over the place. They don't bother me much, and I really don't even notice them. Plus the other email providers like yahoo have also picked up on this.

I just hope the ads on the browser don't take up any of the interface space, or that they can be turned off.

I thinks G wants to add a few more disc's to those data centers with the info collected and really wants to try and knock off Microsoft, along with promoting all the merchants in their network.

I have no interest in their browser and will stick with Firefox.

Next look for G to release their own OS.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt just did an interview on Fox News of course promoting their new browser and would not say which candidate G supports, he said they support technology. He also said G's only mission was to "Change the world" I think that translates into more like take it over.

I just downloaded it and it looks okay. Not a lot of bells and whistles yet.
