    Deckers Outdoor discontinues Affiliate program
    I just got this e-mail.

I would like to personally thank you for your all your hard work in helping us make the UGG® Australia brand as successful as it has become. This letter will serve as notification that as of September 15th, 2008 at 5pm PST, Deckers Outdoor Corporation will discontinue our affiliate program specifically for our UGG® Australia brand. This affects all publishers that are currently promoting UGG® Australia as commissions will not be paid on any sales made after 5pm PST on 9/15/08. Please remove all UGG® Australia creative from your websites before this time, as any traffic from your site(s) resulting in a sale after this time cannot be commissioned. This is the only action you will need to take to maintain compliance. New program terms will be rolled out to you to reflect this change by 5pm (PST) on 9/15/08 and the Affiliate Agreement you entered into with Deckers Consumer Direct, shall be considered amended accordingly.

Please note that this does not affect our affiliate program for our Teva®, Simple® Shoes, or Deckers® Brand brands. We will continue our affiliate program for these 3 brands at this time and are looking forward to offering higher commissions, more affiliate promotions, revamped and advanced creative and closer relationships with you all in regards to the Teva®, Simple® Shoes and Deckers® Brand affiliate program.

No big loss. Selling UGGs from shoe affiliate programs is more lucrative anyway.

Their search strategy also makes no sense, allowing resellers to bid all over their trademark ( example at http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...earch&aq=f&oq= ), yet prohibiting affiliates from doing so. I think any smart search affiliate would go with a Shoes.com or similar site, bid on the term UGGs, and make well more than the 9% that Deckers offered direct. Any smart coupon affiliate would promote the UGG product through a general retailer, to have a chance of increasing average order price, as well as actually having coupons and good promotions. Where the loss for affiliates is with this program closing is? I just don't see one.

Joshua doesn't knows what he's talking about. When December comes and all classic uggs are sold out at every retailer, it's only UggAustralia who can offer backorders so it's gonna be a huge loss for top affiliates of Ugg boots. That's for sure!!!

Are you saying that all of the major shoe affiliate programs sold out of their classic ugg inventory last December?

    Wot he said.

Not one I tended to promote heavily, but a good fall back for when only they had the stock and the public had warm credit cards they are itching to use.

Not a great loss in the great scheme of things though, can't see anyone staying with them for the sake of their other programmes, Teva, Simple and the flip-flops.

Uggaustralia has the biggest stock and in December they are the only ones who can bring some classic uggs to the people.

Wonder why the other retailers don't stock up before Dec.? It's not like we're talking about some hot new video game console here.

Or maybe they create artificial demand by keeping their distribution low?

Isn't it a bit odd that Deckers have discontinue their Uggaustralia program at september 15th. but all banners, text links, products and data feeds are still available at CJ. Wonder also why their banners have this info when getting their html info: "This ad will expire 27 days.". Would be great if someone could tell if they still get commissions from Uggaustralia.

    Question
Deckers has just added their feed to Popshops and what do they have - UGG Australia. I have sent 3 e-mails with no response to the AM asking about this as well as Tsubo as they are listed also but nothing is included on their info page on CJ.
